As Filipinos, we join in one voice: our cry for peace is for more than a durable ceasefire โ€“ it is a clamor for respect of each nationโ€™s sovereignty, protection of their welfare, and assurance of social justice, freedom, and the common good. We join Holy Father Pope Leo XIV in praying for peace in Iran and around the world.

Pope Leoโ€™s prophetic advocacy has touched our hearts. Prayers for peace cascade over the planet, reminding us of our one humanity and our connection with all of Creation.

What is happening in the Middle East affects us all! We denounce the death and destruction caused by foreign intervention and war. Even in the Philippines, we are already tremendously affected by soaring prices for fuel and other commodities.

As world powers clash, the poor are most affected. As superpowers seek domination and Imperialist occupation, many are harmed. We join Pope Leo in the cry for peace, seeking to overcome indifference and working together to build a more just and equitable world.

As Christians, we make room for the peace of Jesus that โ€œis not the kind that merely silences weapons, but the kind that touches and transforms each of our hearts.โ€ (Pope Leo, Easter Sunday message, 2026). Ours is a sacred commitment of faith to โ€œseek peace and pursue itโ€ (Psalm 34:14). Today, we especially pray for the United States to stop their military attacks on other sovereign nations. We welcome all Filipinos and people of goodwill to join this journey of peace advocacy.
