'UNHEALTHY' AIR QUALITY LEVELS RECORDED IN NCR

DENR’s Environmental Management Bureau has flagged "acutely unhealthy" PM 2.5 air quality levels in Marikina and Valenzuela at 3 PM on Saturday.

The bureau also recorded "very unhealthy" air quality index in Caloocan, Malabon and Quezon City.

"Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" PM 2.5 concentrations were seen at Navotas and San Juan City.

PM 2.5 are tiny air pollution particles that can enter the lungs and bloodstream, posing a health risk when inhaled for a long time.

Residents in affected cities are advised to stay indoors and wear respiratory protections such as N95 mask.

The smoke from the Navotas Sanitary Landfill Facility since April 10 has contributed to the poor air quality in Metro Manila and adjacent areas. | via Andrew Ronquillo

Latest reporting from the CDC shows this year’s flu season is the deadliest non-pandemic flu season for U.S. children. 216 children have died. This number passed last year’s flu season, which set a previous high for a non-pandemic season with 207 pediatric deaths. Even with seasonal flu activity declining since its February peak, AAP and CDC recommend everyone six months and older get vaccinated against the flu.
