Is mealtime feeling a little harder than it should? 😪💭

For some children, trying new foods, sitting through meals, or having a variety of foods can feel like a big challenge.

But what if there’s more behind it than just being a “picky eater”?

Here’s a little introduction to the 𝗦𝗢𝗦 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 and our certified feeding therapist can help your child become more comfortable and confident around food, one food at a time. 🍓🍚

Featuring our individualized Therapy Notebook designed by our OT to support better communication between therapists and families. ⭐

Inside, you'll find:
📝 Session notes with updates, activities, and home recommendations
👩‍⚕️ The child's therapy and school profiles
📚 Caregiver education handouts to help you better understand your child's goals and development

✨ One of our favorite features? The binder system!
Unlike a regular notebook, our pages can be opened, removed, and rearranged whenever needed just like if the notebook is accidentally left at home.

It's a small feature that helps ensure your child's therapy journey is documented consistently, even on busy days. 💛

Because every session matters, and every milestone deserves to be recorded.

Children don't always repeat behaviours because they need a bigger consequence.

Sometimes they repeat them because they're missing a skill.

A child who struggles to stop, wait, cope with frustration, manage disappointment, or communicate their needs isn't choosing to lack those skills—they're still developing them.

When we shift from asking, "How do I stop this behaviour?" to "What skill is missing?", our response changes.

Instead of only correcting the behaviour, we start teaching the skill that makes the behaviour less necessary.

That's where lasting change happens.

What skill do you think is most overlooked in children?

If I think about the adults I hope my kids someday become…
it gives me clarity about how I need to support them NOW.

The skills that we nurture NOW will become the skills that they have later.

Conversely, the things that we discourage NOW are the things that our kids may never be able to access as adults. For me, it was self-advocacy skills. Those skills remain completely out of reach for me, and that has put me at such risk.

This world wants conformity. It wants compliance.
When we are not training our kids to be unwaveringly compliant it can come with a crap-ton of self doubt, and also judgement. We ask ourselves ‘what if we’re not doing right by them? What if we’re missing super important things? What if this way isn’t the right way? Maybe everyone is right? Maybe we should be focusing more on compliance and behaviour??’

As an oft-frazzled and overwhelmed parent, this particular concept really helped me find perspective.

What do you hope for your someday adult kids?
Let those hopes inform your parenting choices now.

For me, it means supporting my kids in learning to trust themselves.
To listen to their bodies.
To think critically.
To know what they deserve.
To regard themselves kindly.
To consolidate their beliefs and values.
To speak up.

What about you?
