Today is 💙👨🏻‍⚕️👩🏻‍⚕️

This year’s theme by WONCA is:
“Compassionate Care in a Digital World.”

Saktong-sakto sa nangyari ngayong araw.

I originally planned to post earlier, but the day became busy with online consultations, follow-ups, reviewing laboratory results, monitoring blood pressure logs, answering messages, and helping patients navigate their concerns through telemedicine and digital communication.

And in many ways, that reflects the very essence of this year’s theme.

Technology has changed how we practice medicine. We now use teleconsults, electronic records, messaging apps, digital monitoring tools, wearable devices, and even AI-assisted systems. These innovations help improve access and continuity of care, especially for patients who cannot easily travel, are working abroad, are caring for loved ones, or simply need guidance from home.

But amidst all the digital tools, one thing remains constant:
💙 Medicine is still deeply human.

Behind every online consult is a person with fears, questions, hopes, responsibilities, and stories.
Behind every blood pressure reading, lab result, or chat message is a patient trusting us to listen, guide, and care.

As a family physician, I have always believed that good healthcare is built on long-term relationships, trust, continuity, and partnership (not just prescriptions or diagnoses).

To all my patients and families:
Thank you for allowing me to become part of your health journey. Thank you for your trust, patience, openness, and partnership over the years. Whether through clinic visits, home visits, teleconsults, or simple online follow-ups, I deeply appreciate the opportunity to care for you and your loved ones.

And to my fellow family physicians and primary care doctors:
Happy World Family Doctor Day. 💙

May we continue to provide compassionate, person-centered care—whether face-to-face or through digital platforms—while keeping the heart of family medicine alive in every interaction.

📋💙 Best practice in hypertension management ba kamo? Gawin ang regular and proper BP monitoring.

Meet one of my patients who faithfully followed my instructions on home blood pressure monitoring—mula sa tamang paraan ng pagsukat, tamang oras, hanggang sa tamang BP device. 👏👏👏

Because of her consistency, discipline, and partnership with her doctor, naging mas maayos ang control ng kanyang blood pressure.

This is exactly why I give my patients:
🩺 BP Monitoring Sheets
🕒 Instructions on proper timing of BP checks
📍 Guidance on proper positioning and technique
📱 Recommendations on validated BP devices

Hindi sapat ang “pakiramdam ko okay naman.”
Hypertension is often a silent killer — kadalasan walang sintomas kahit mataas na pala ang BP.

📌 TANDAAN:

❤️ heart attack
❤️ kidney disease
❤️ at iba pang komplikasyon ng altapresyon

📌 At syempre, umiwas sa mga P.A.M.A.T.A.Y.:
⚠️ Pagod (overfatigue)
⚠️ Asar (bad stress)
⚠️ Matamis (excess sugar)*
⚠️ Asin/Alat
⚠️ Taba/Tambay (fatty meals & sedentary lifestyle)
⚠️ Alak/Alkohol
⚠️ Yosi

Small daily habits matter.
Consistency matters.
Monitoring matters. 📈

💙 Congratulations to my patient for taking ownership of her health. This is what good hypertension care looks like—partnership between patient and doctor.

🩺 If you have hypertension (or may kakilala kang may altapresyon), sana meron kayong trusted primary care physician or family doctor na tumutulong mag-guide at mag-monitor sa inyo long-term.

🩺💙 Today is 2026. Ginugunita ngayong araw ang World Hypertension Day with the theme: “Controlling Hypertension Together: Check your blood pressure regularly, defeat the silent killer.”

Alam mo ba?
❤️ Heart attack
🧠 Stroke
👁️ Blindness
🧓 Dementia
🩺 Kidney disease
⚠️ At iba pang seryosong komplikasyon na maaring mauwi sa hospitalization, disability, even death.

Kaya tinatawag itong “silent killer.”

A simple BP check can be life-saving.
✅ Magpacheck ng BP regularly o kapag may pagkakataon
✅ Kumain nang mas healthy (bawas asin, less alat)
✅ Mag-exercise regularly.
✅ Iwas yosi at excessive alcohol
✅ Matulog nang maayos.
✅ Uminom ng maintenance medicines consistently kung prescribed

At importante rin and:

🩺 If you are hypertensive, o may kakilala kang may high blood pressure, I hope may trusted na primary care physician or family doctor na tumutulong mag-monitor at mag-guide sa inyo long-term. Hypertension is not just about one BP reading, it’s about lifelong prevention and care.

💙 Know your numbers.
💙 Protect your heart.
💙 Take care of your family.

📍If you haven’t checked your blood pressure recently, this is your sign to do it today.

Hypertension Awareness Month reminder ❤️

If you need guidance, make an appointment with your preferred primary care physician.

Strengthening Prevention in HIV Care | World Immunization Week 2026

Ngayong katatapos lang ng World Immunization Week, gusto kong i-share ang isang meaningful engagement ko last month.

The topic: “Helping protect people living with HIV from pneumococcal diseases.”

I am sharing an advocacy video by the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians, Inc.
