Congratulations, Aira!

The Blood and Cancer Care Center, National Children's Hospital, proudly congratulates Aira Maureen A. Castro on her graduation from the Global Reciprocal Colleges, earning a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and receiving the Best in Capstone Award.

Aira's journey reminds us what is possible when hope is matched with perseverance and compassionate care. She survived Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) against formidable odds—severe infections, limited resources, and countless uncertainties. This 2026, she graduates with Best in Capstone, having developed a project on blood bank records management that has the potential to improve blood access for children with leukemia.

There is something profoundly meaningful about her journey: a child once sustained by donated blood is now helping build systems that may sustain the lives of others.

Her story is a powerful reminder that every child we care for holds extraordinary potential. Beyond survival lies the opportunity to learn, to lead, to innovate, and to give back in ways that transform the lives of others.

The Blood and Cancer Care Center, National Children's Hospital, celebrates this remarkable milestone and joins Aira, her family, and everyone who has been part of her journey.
