Today I begin another 4-month contract onboard as a cruise ship doctor.
People see the destination.
Few see the sacrifice.
But every day away from home is a reminder of why I started in the first place: to provide, to build, and to create a better future for my family.
To every OFW, seafarer, and parent carrying the same burden—your sacrifices matter.
120 days away. 60 days home. Repeat.

How to Prevent Traffic Hypos
Drivers on insulin or oral glucose-lowering medications are at higher risk of hypoglycemia while driving. Protect yourself with these preventative steps:
* Pre-drive check: Never start driving if your blood glucose is below 90 mg/dL (5.0 mmol/L) without taking a preventative carb snack.
* Emergency Kit: Always keep fast-acting carbs, your blood glucose meter, and slow-acting snacks (e.g., crackers and cheese or a protein bar) within arm's reach in the vehicle.
* Do not rush to drive: Even after your blood sugar returns to normal, wait 30 to 45 minutes before turning the ignition back on. It takes that long for your brain and cognitive reflexes to fully recover from a hypoglycemic event.
