Open Extraction + Enucleation of a Large Lesion(Odontogenic Lesion)

Why some extractions aren't "just a pull"?

​Sometimes, a toothache hides a bigger story. We recently managed a case in the molar region that required an open extraction and enucleation of a large lesion.

​When a lesion (like a cyst) grows large enough, a simple extraction isn't enough. We have to surgically access the area to carefully "shell out" the entire lesion to protect the surrounding bone and teeth.

​It’s intricate work, but it’s what ensures our patients stay healthy and pain-free in the long run!

This is closed via single interrupted technique using 4/0 chromic catgut

Composite Restoration of Molar with extensive Occlusal Caries

There are ways to restore this case directly or indirectly and there are certain materials than can be used as a restorative material: composite(resin) , emax or zirconia.

In this particular case, direct(inside the mouth) composite restoration was done in incremental technique. Cusps were functionally and esthetically restored.

Restorations in this area should not be flat or else function would be compromised. Esthetics only come second. Luckily we were able to achieve both the function and esthetics.

Fulfilling a yearly anniversary vow always feels different when it comes from the heart.
Today, I’m proud and grateful to say that I was able to complete my promise of giving back to the community of Talanay, Batasan through our dental mission. This milestone means so much to me—not just as a dentist, but as someone who believes in service beyond the clinic.

This mission would not have been possible without the all-out support of Dr. Floro Corrales. From the very start, he never hesitated—providing manpower and assistants, supplying water dispensers and mineral water for both our team and patients, and even covering essential medications like pain relievers and antibiotics. Everything we needed, he gave wholeheartedly, without a second thought. On top of all that, he still made time to personally visit the mission. That kind of support is rare, and I am deeply grateful.
