The first corner of Frankl’s Meaning-Making Triangle are our creative values. This pertains to the ways we give to the world through our work, expressions, or vocation. Even if we do not realize, our efforts in expressing ourselves give rise to meaning not only for ourselves, but for others as well.

FOR WHOM ARE MY EFFORTS?
Work, school, or day-to-day tasks, can often feel mundane, but when we take time to reflect on the ways these affect ourselves and others, then we can draw direction and meaning in our actions.

WHAT AM I CALLED TO DO IN SERVICE OF OTHERS?
Just being ourselves, sharing our little knowledge, experiences, skills, and talents can make even a small difference. We can do this with the people around us or communities we wish to serve.

HOW CAN I EXPRESS MY CREATIVITY?
Hobbies and creative outlets can be a source of meaning and joy. For example, art and writing can help us reflect on our actions, articulate our values, and form new insights about our lives. It’s up to each one of us how we choose to express ourselves the way we think is best!

The Ateneo Bulatao Center is now accepting sign-ups for our Brief Psychological Services (BPS).

BPS is a free, short-term online counseling service offering 1 to 2 sessions to adult Filipinos experiencing emotional distress. These sessions are designed to help you manage stress, explore coping strategies, and find support in a safe space.
Please note that BPS is not psychotherapy and is not intended for long-term treatment or urgent mental health concerns. For those interested in psychotherapy, feel free to message us for information about our other services.

📌 To sign up for a BPS session, complete this form: https://bit.ly/BulataoBPSSignUp

Due to high demand, there may be a waiting period before you are matched with a responder. We appreciate your understanding as we work to accommodate each client with care.

đź’Ś If you have any questions, you may message us directly through this page.

🚨 Note: BPS is not a crisis hotline or emergency service. If you are in immediate distress, please seek help through the following 24/7 mental health hotlines or go to the nearest emergency room:

In the Philippines, millions of adults experience emotional distress – yet only a small fraction ever speak to a mental health professional. For many, it’s not a matter of willingness, but access: therapy can be costly, services are scarce outside Metro Manila, and stigma still makes it hard to reach out.

This is where the Brief Psychological Services (BPS) of the Ateneo Bulatao Center comes in. Each ₱800 donation helps fund one free online counseling session for a Filipino in need. But what happens behind that single session?

Every BPS responder, a graduate student in psychology, undergoes a series of training on brief psychological interventions and continues to receive group and individual mentorship from licensed psychologists throughout the program. This ensures that every session is guided, ethical, and grounded in both compassion and science.

And while BPS offers only one to two sessions, for many of our clients, it’s their first time talking to a mental health professional. Sometimes, even one conversation can help someone see themselves with more clarity, find hope, or take the next step toward long-term healing.

If you believe that mental health care should be within everyone’s reach, this is one simple way to make it possible.

Change and uncertainty are part and parcel of life. Many of us feel anxious and worried about the future, our careers, relationships, illness, or even our own deaths. This is understandable; however, this anxiety can spiral into isolation, loneliness, and even despair. One framework that seeks to address these existential feelings is Viktor Frankl’s Meaning-Making Triangle:

Creative Values: What we give to the world through self-expression (art, service, vocation etc.).

Experiential Values: What we receive from the world through experience (nature, culture, relationships etc.)

Attitudinal Values: How we choose to interpret and approach what is beyond our control.

The goal of this framework is not to eliminate the sources of our existential anxieties. Instead, it seeks to find a balanced and authentic way of living with change and uncertainty. In the next few weeks, we will explore questions and themes that can allow us to reflect on this framework, take more ownership of our actions, and live more authentically and meaningfully amidst change and uncertainty.
