C.A.T., or Citizens Army Training, was once a familiar part of secondary school life in the Philippines. Under the education guidelines of the time, CAT was implemented in high schools, and by 1992, CAT I was included in the fourth-year curriculum.
The program became associated with uniforms, formations, drills, inspections, and other organized activities that students experienced as part of their school years.
For those who went through C.A.T., seeing old photographs like this can bring back memories of standing in formation with classmates, following commands, and taking part in a school tradition that belonged to a different era.
In 2003, the program was restructured as Citizenship Advancement Training, marking a change from the earlier Citizens Army Training design.
Today, old C.A.T. photographs remain a nostalgic glimpse into an earlier chapter of Philippine high school life.
