Acknowledging and Deconstructing Emotional Armors

Healing begins when we feel safe enough to lower our guards. Through this talk, residents explored the "emotional armors" we often build to stay safe, learning how to transform these defenses into authentic self-awareness and strength.

From deep self-reflection and identifying coping patterns to fostering empathy and trust, each discussion became a bridge to deeper interpersonal connection. By softening these armors, we create space for genuine expression and the mutual support needed for a lasting recovery.

Every layer shed is a step toward freedom. Every shared experience is a seed of hope.

MINI-MAZING RACE: Facing the Rehabilitation Journey Together

Recovery is not meant to be faced alone. Through this Mini-Mazing Race, residents came together to rebuild confidence, strengthen connections, and support one another every step of the way.

From teamwork and communication to trust and resilience, each challenge became an opportunity to grow not just as individuals, but as a community. Every step forward, no matter how small, is progress worth celebrating.

Together, we move. Together, we heal.

Aging is not something to fear, it is something to embrace. Growing older brings wisdom, experiences, and lessons that shape who we are and how we live meaningfully. Positive aging reminds us that life does not lose its value with age; instead, it gains deeper purpose.

Highlighting the importance of viewing aging as a journey of growth rather than decline. It is about staying active, maintaining a positive mindset, nurturing relationships, and continuing to find joy in everyday life. Thriving in later years means recognizing that fulfillment is possible at every stage of life.

Let us promote respect, care, and appreciation for older adults, and encourage everyone to see aging as a gift or an opportunity to live fully, purposefully, and meaningfully.

Age is not the end of growth, it is a new beginning to thrive.

On March 24, 2026, the Treatment and Rehabilitation Center–La Union became a space of energy, teamwork, and transformation through our activity: 𝐀𝐦𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐞: 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 🏃🏻✨

Designed for the center's male residents, this initiative went beyond fun and games—it became a meaningful step toward recovery. Through interactive challenges, trust-building activities, and teamwork, participants were given the opportunity to rebuild communication, strengthen trust and cooperation, and rediscover their strengths within a safe and supportive environment.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, this initiative highlights the importance of promoting mental health, supporting recovery, and fostering inclusive environments that empower individuals to heal, grow, and reintegrate into society. 🌱

In this journey, we celebrate not only the completion of the race but also the perseverance and commitment it takes to keep moving forward. ❤️‍🩹

Rising beyond the past. Reclaiming confidence. Embracing a new beginning.

At the DOH San Fernando Treatment and Rehabilitation Center, Mr. TRC 2026 was more than just a pageant. It became a meaningful platform aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, emphasizing the importance of promoting mental health, emotional recovery, and overall well-being for all.

The event stood as a celebration of bravery, growth, and second chances. Each participant not only showcased their talents but also stepped forward to rediscover their voice, rebuild their sense of self-worth, and affirm that they are more than their past struggles. In this way, the program supported holistic healing by addressing not only physical recovery but also psychological resilience and social reintegration.

Through moments of laughter, unity, and self-expression, the space became a safe and empowering environment where connections were strengthened, hope was renewed, and confidence was restored. It showed that achieving good health and well-being goes beyond clinical treatment, as it also involves being seen, heard, and valued.

Every story shared and every smile reflected a powerful truth that recovery is possible and transformation begins from within.
Together, we continue to uplift lives and advance SDG 3, one step, one voice, and one story at a time.

Silence is not always peace — sometimes, it's a story waiting for the right moment and the right listener.

Many older adults carry untold stories not because they have nothing to say, but because they fear being dismissed or misunderstood. Creating compassionate, judgment-free spaces isn't just an act of kindness — it's essential for their emotional well-being. When we listen with patience and empathy, we give them permission to speak, reflect, and heal.

Every voice deserves to be heard. Every story deserves a safe place to land.

Built by their hands, sustained by their dedication—our everyday lives are shaped by the quiet strength of blue-collar workers.

But who are they? They are the people who build our roads and structures, maintain essential services, transport goods and people, and keep our surroundings safe and functional. They are the backbone of industries that keep society moving forward.

Their role is vital, yet often underappreciated. Without their labor, progress would quite literally stop. But, despite their importance, they face a lot of challenges. Thus, it is important for us to show our support through simple actions.

Today and every day, we honor our blue-collar workers. Thank you for your hard work, resilience, and unwavering dedication—you are the foundation of our society💙🛠️

What makes a student choose peace over conflict? The 4th Year BS Psychology OJTs recently facilitated a mini-symposium, "From Awareness to Action: Addressing School Violence Through Psychological Insight and Collective Responsibility," specifically designed for the Grade 10 students of Christ the King College.

Moving beyond basic definitions, the 4th Year BS Psychology OJTs utilized Social Learning Theory to explain how environment and observation shape adolescent behavior. The session highlighted that school violence—whether physical, social, or cyber—is often a learned response. By identifying these patterns, the Grade 10 participants were encouraged to reflect on their own roles in the school ecosystem.

The goal set by the 4th Year BS Psychology OJTs was clear: to transform "bystander guilt" into "collective responsibility." Through interactive dialogue, the students explored how they can actively interrupt harmful cycles and promote a culture of dignity and mutual respect.

Filipino values often emphasize diligence (masikap) and perseverance (tiyaga) in work and daily life (Menguin, 2021). However, when there is constant pressure to work, stay beyond work hours, and prove one’s productivity at all times, it may result in toxic productivity.

Being productive should never mean compromising our own welfare. It is important to take breaks, as doing otherwise or feeling guilty for doing so only means that our overall well-being could be put at risk by work pressure and long work hours contribute to psychological stress and work stress (Wong et al., 2019).

Let us foster a more positive and healthy environment in workplaces where balance, respect, and mental well-being are equally prioritized.

Take breaks. Put up boundaries. Take care of yourself. Because in a healthy workplace, people, not merely productivity, matter.

People Who Use Drugs (PWUDs) have stories untold, stories of pain, survival, and silent battles. Some used substances to heal their minds, to escape a reality too heavy to carry… but what once felt like relief turned into deeper misery. It satisfies their mind and body, but afterwards it makes them nobody.

Behind their struggles, they are human beings who do not deserve judgment, but understanding. Not rejection, but compassion.

They deserve a chance to change. They deserve to be heard, to be loved, and to live peacefully, becoming a better version of themselves.

Stigma doesn’t heal—understanding does.

For too long, people who use drugs (PWUDs) have been judged and pushed aside without knowing their stories. What they truly need is compassion, support, and access to care. Substance use is often linked to deeper issues like mental health, trauma, and social challenges—not simply a matter of choice.

The way we speak matters. Research shows that person-centered, non-stigmatizing language improves how people with substance use disorders are perceived and treated (Volkow et al., 2021), while supportive and inclusive environments help promote well-being and better outcomes (Wogen et al., 2020).

When we replace judgment with empathy and listen instead of assume, we create safe spaces for people to seek help. Change begins with us. Let’s be part of the conversation that humanizes, not harms.
