Pain Management Service of the PT & Rehab
In addition to Acupuncture, the traditional Chinese method for reducing pain, the Lorma PT & Rehab uses other modalities in the treatment of pain. Shockwave Therapy is a new non-invasive solution for musculoskeletal pain. Shockwave energy leads to biological responses such as bone and tendon repair, improved blood supply and tissue regeneration. High Intensity Laser Therapy actually involves the use of laser to treat injured tissues. It heals the tissue, while providing a powerful and non-addictive form of pain management. Targeted Radiofrequency Therapy distributes high frequency electromagnetic energy into the desired tissue which leads to athermic effects (edema reduction and anti-inflamatory effect) and thermic effects (intense pain relief, muscle relaxation, and supporting tissue regeneration and healing). The most common indications treated using these modalities or a combination of them include: painful shoulder, low back pain, golf elbow, tennis elbow, Achilles tendon pain, muscle spasm, post traumatic edema to name a few. If you are currently suffering from back pain, then please keep reading to learn some tips on how to manage upper or lower back pain. Letโ€™s get you feeling like you again:

LOOK OUT FOR YOUR POSTURE.

Bad posture is a major contributor to back pain and improving it can help alleviate some of the pain youโ€™re feeling.

If you have a desk job, make sure youโ€™re keeping your back straight. Take regular breaks away from the desk. If you do a lot of lifting, bend your knees, not your back. Correcting your posture can alleviate some of the pain you're feeling.

HEAT OR ICE WORKS GREAT.

A great way to get rid of lower back pain is by using ice as this can help reduce inflammation in the muscles and can help rid you of the pain in your back, always make sure to ice in intervals of 15 minutes.

Heat improves the flexibility of soft tissues, movement of muscles, and overall functioning of the back. The local warmth stimulates blood circulation in your lower back.

STRETCHING.

One of the best things you can do for your muscles and joints is to stretch them daily. Stretching exercises can help you manage your back pain. Stretching and moving the muscles can also help prevent future damage and pain.

KEEP ACTIVE.

Staying active is important for your wellbeing and general health. Exercises like swimming and walking can help you manage your pain. Working on exercises that support your back muscles, once your back pain has subsided, can help prevent pain from occurring in the future. Staying active is also one of the best back pain relief tips you can get.

The Physio Treatment Pyramid by Adam Meakins, aka The Sports Physio
:)
This is how we should treat most of our patients.
-Advice and education first to provide trust, reassurrance, challenge beliefs and fears etc.
Then get people moving.

-Most people in pain are afraid to move normally and relaxt. They avoid painful movements and tend to have more muscle guarding.. in the long term this is not helpful.

-Then load the tissues gradually, so they become stronger and flexible. Eccentric training is good for make tissues stronger and flexible. You improve the loading capacity of the tissues.

-Manual therapy is good to use to build trust, make people feel secure and safe and it can detonize the muscles. It has to be a party of the treatment though, not the only treatment.
It is a passive treatment, which creates dependency of the treatment. Best is to empower patients and give teach them
Self awareness, so they can have control over their pain. This factor alone creates a better prognosis and a happier patient ๐Ÿ˜Š

-Do you also use energy crystals btw?
Works every time! ๐Ÿ˜
