Did you know?

Republic Act No. 9709, also known as the Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Intervention Act of 2009, mandates that all infants born in hospitals undergo hearing screening before discharge, while those born outside healthcare facilities must be screened within the first 3 months of life.

Its main goal is to help prevent speech, language, and developmental delays caused by undetected hearing loss.

This program is implemented by the Department of Health (DOH), in collaboration with the Newborn Hearing Screening Reference Center (NHSRC), through certified diagnostic centers like Saint Joseph Medical Clinic.
