TAKE NOTE! PREDICT, PREPARE, PLAN, PRACTICE: Staying Resilient During the Kanlaon Volcano Eruption

Another powerful eruption was recorded at Mt. Kanlaon this morning, April 8, 2025, sending a thick ash plume soaring up to 4,000 meters. With Alert Level 3 still in effect, preparedness is more crucial than ever.

The Philippine Red Cross reminds everyone to follow the 4Ps — a key message from Chairman and CEO, Dick Gordon — to stay safe and resilient during disasters:

📍PREDICT: Stay informed through official updates from PHIVOLCS and local authorities. Timely information can save lives.

📍PLAN: Talk with your family about evacuation strategies. Know the nearest safe zones and shelters, especially in areas vulnerable to ashfall or lahar.

📍 PREPARE: Secure essential emergency supplies—N95 masks, goggles, medicines, food, water, flashlights, and fuel. Keep go-bags within reach.

📍PRACTICE: Hold regular evacuation drills. Make sure everyone knows what to do and where to go in case of emergency.

These 4Ps aren’t just guidelines—they are life-saving habits that strengthen our communities in times of crisis.

The Philippine Red Cross continues to coordinate with local disaster risk reduction councils and is on standby to respond as needed.
