Sometimes, “I’m fine” doesn’t really mean fine.
Not everyone who’s struggling will openly say they need help. Sometimes, it shows in the little things the sudden silence, pulling away from people, losing interest in things they used to love, or saying things that make you stop and wonder if they’re okay.
And sometimes, all it takes is one person to notice.
If someone you know is showing signs of suicidal thoughts, don’t brush it off, don’t judge, and don’t assume they’re just being dramatic. Talk to them. Listen. Stay. Let them know they don’t have to carry everything alone.
You don’t need to be a therapist or have the perfect words. You can simply start with:
“Hey, I noticed you haven’t been yourself lately. Do you want to talk?”
It might feel awkward. You might not know what to say. That’s okay. A genuine conversation is better than silence.
Let’s be the kind of people who notice when someone is quietly struggling not only when it’s already too late.
Check on your people. Listen a little longer. Take them seriously. 🤍
