๐Ÿšจ Life-Saving Surgery for a Golden Retriever with Stomach Blockage ๐Ÿšจ
A 3-year-old male Golden Retriever was brought to our clinic after 3 days of refusing food, no bowel movement, and repeated vomiting. The owner reported seeing him vomit palmera leaves earlier, and the next day, he vomited again after being force-fed. On examination, he had pale gums and abdominal pain.

๐Ÿฉบ CBC Result: Normal red blood cell count, borderline low platelets, notable lymphopenia, and neutrophilia โ€” changes often linked to stress and inflammation.
๐Ÿ’ก X-ray Findings: Abdominal radiographs revealed severe gas accumulation and intestinal distention, suggesting gastrointestinal obstruction.
๐Ÿ”ช Surgery: An exploratory laparotomy was performed, revealing a morning towel, chicken bones, and dog hair lodged in the stomach.

โœ… Recovery Update: The patient is now recovering well, has regained his appetite, and is passing normal stools. The owner was advised to administer the prescribed take-home medications and follow a strict soft-food diet until full recovery.

โš  Pet Owner Reminder: Dogs can ingest non-food items that cause dangerous blockages. Keep laundry, bones, and other small objects out of reach. Avoid cooked bones, as they can splinter and injure the digestive tract. If your pet shows vomiting, bloating, loss of appetite, or no stool, seek veterinary care immediately โ€” early intervention saves lives! โค๏ธ๐Ÿถ
