Nasal Inhalers: Helpful or Harmful?

Nasal inhalers can provide temporary relief from a stuffy nose, but not all inhalers are meant for frequent or prolonged use.
Some decongestant nasal sprays can cause rebound congestion when overused, making your nose feel even more blocked.

Before using a nasal inhaler:
✔️ Know what’s in it
✔️ Follow the recommended directions
✔️ Avoid prolonged use of decongestant sprays
✔️ Consult an ENT specialist if nasal congestion keeps coming back

Nosebleeds can be frightening—especially for children—but knowing the correct first-aid steps can prevent panic and unnecessary complications.

We are sharing this Bisaya “YUKAN” nosebleed guide as a simple visual reminder for schools, clinics, waiting areas, treatment rooms, barangay health centers, and community spaces.

Doctors and clinic administrators are encouraged to print and display this poster where patients, parents, teachers, and staff can easily see it. A clear poster like this may help someone respond correctly during the first few minutes of a nosebleed.

YUKAN reminds us to:

Keep the head slightly forward
Pinch the soft part of the nose
Stay calm and breathe through the mouth
Maintain pressure for about 10 minutes
Seek help if the bleeding does not stop
