The sky may be crying today, but hope is shining brightly through the rain.

Early this morning, a profound act of benevolence took place that may transform lives forever.

We extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Kenneth Rey Afable. In the midst of their sorrow, they chose to give the ultimate gift—the gift of sight through corneal donation.

In a beautiful twist of legacy and love, Kenneth Rey Afable was the godfather of Kobe Andrei Tejero, Eastern Visayas’ very first corneal donor. Today, that legacy of love and selflessness continues to light the way for others.

In a few days, individuals who have been living in darkness may be able to see the world clearly once again. Thank you to the Afable family for turning grief into grace, and for giving others a second chance at sight.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ IMPORTANT PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT :

Rise in Viral Conjunctivitis (Sore Eyes) in Tacloban City & Nearby Towns

We are currently seeing an increase in cases of Viral Conjunctivitis (commonly known as sore eyes) in Tacloban and neighboring municipalities.

Viral conjunctivitis is HIGHLY CONTAGEOUS and spreads easily through direct contact with infected eye secretions, contaminated hands, or shared personal items. Protect yourself and your loved ones by following these essential DOs and DON’Ts:

✅ DOs (What You Should Do)

🙌🏼 Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer (preferably 70% ETHYL alcohol)

🏠 Isolate at home if you show symptoms (redness, itching, watery discharge, or a gritty feeling in the eyes) to prevent spreading the infection to family members and coworkers.

🤧 Use clean tissue when wiping discharge from your eyes, and discard used tissues immediately in a closed bin. 🚮

🆒 Apply cool compresses over closed eyelids to help soothe irritation and swelling.

Consult an eye specialist for proper evaluation and prescription of symptomatic relief.

DON’Ts (What You Should AVOID)

👁️👁️ DON’T touch or rub your eyes—this worsens inflammation and spreads the virus to the other eye or surrounding surfaces.

💧DON’T share personal items such as towels, pillowcases, eyeglasses, eye drops, makeup, or facial soaps.

❌DON’T wear contact lenses until the infection has completely cleared and your ophthalmologist gives approval.

❌DON’T self-medicate or use left-over antibiotic/steroid eye drops without a proper doctor's prescription. Steroid eye drops can be dangerous if used incorrectly!

❌ DON’T go to crowded public areas, schools, or workplaces while actively contagious.

🩺 When to See a Doctor:

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe eye pain, extreme sensitivity to light, blurred vision, or symptoms that worsen after a few days.

Stay safe and keep your hands away from your eyes!

Family Movie Night Approved!

Just finished watching DreamWorks Animation: Forgotten Island Movie with the kids, and we were completely blown away! From the stunning animation to the incredible soundtrack and heartwarming plot, it truly had us all captivated.

It’s rare for the kids to sit through an entire movie without losing focus, but this one kept them engaged and feeling all the emotions right along with the characters. ❤️

What a productive and truly blessed Sunday!

Earlier today, we had the wonderful opportunity to join the medical mission at St. Anthony de Padua Parish, celebrating 11 fruitful years of the Our Lady of Fatima EENT Center.

Working alongside the dedicated eye doctors of the Ophthalmology Society of Eastern Visayas, including MDs from ENT, Anesthesiology, IM, and our ever-reliable OLOF Angels, we were able to bring comprehensive eye care and medical services to Tabontabon, Leyte.

The highlight of the day? Having my family right by my side—my husband, my brother, and the kids all rolled up their sleeves to help out! Serving others is always special, but doing it together as a family hits different.

A huge thank you to the Our Lady of Fatima EENT Center and everyone involved for having us!

🚨 MASK UP, TACLOBAN! 🚨

Protect your vision and overall health by taking extra precautions against haze.

Haze affects more than just air quality—it directly impacts your general health and your eyes. Keep these essential tips in mind to protect yourself and your family.

Common Symptoms Caused by Haze:

-Difficulty breathing

-Itchy or runny nose

-Coughing & chest tightness

-Watery or irritated eyes

-Worsening of underlying respiratory conditions (like asthma)

General Preventive Steps:

✅ Stay indoors as much as possible.

✅ Wear an N95 mask whenever heading outside.

✅ Seal doors and cover gaps with a damp cloth to block particles.

✅ Turn on headlights or fog lights when driving in low-visibility conditions.

EYE CARE ADVICE

✅ Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes.

✅ Wear sunglasses or protective eyewear outdoors.

✅ Use artificial tears if your eyes feel dry, gritty, or watery.
