Exactly three years ago, I flew from the Philippines to Switzerland to start my journey. Today, on that exact day, I am proud to share my first research publication as First Author!!

I am paying homage to my Mama and Papa by making sure I reflect both of their last names: Gacutan and Salunga.

To all the people and organizations who contributed to making this paper a reality, you have my heartfelt gratitude - maraming salamat po!!

There is still much work to be done to ensure our insights reach the audiences, organizations, and rooms they are supposed to reach to make real changes and improvement a reality.

This work is dedicated to the children of today and tomorrow, so they may inherit a better society that nourishes them.

Celebrating this milestone, and it couldn't be more timely for this year's Nutrition Month theme: "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!"

A few months back, I was invited to the UN Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, for the UN Human Rights Council's consultation on transforming food systems to protect human rights and prevent climate harm

I had the privilege of delivering an intervention where we highlighted how cities and towns have a unique, pivotal role in shaping a food system that actually works for both people and the planet.

My favorite part, we got to echo the powerful voices of the youth and women we’ve been working with in our NutriPoliCities study across Bangladesh, Kenya, Rwanda, and the Philippines.

Given the "polycrisis" our world is facing right now, we emphasized that we urgently need to:
1. Use policies and action plans to their full potential.
2. Ensure youth and women have a real seat at the table in local policymaking and action planning.

I ended our statement with a question: Are we being conscious and intentional with our actions? Do our individual choices hinder, or enable, our collective goals for a better world?

Today marks the start of my 3rd year journey

Emotional. Grateful. Excited.

The Philippine flag was raised in our institute in line with the visit of Switzerland Ambassador to the Philippines where we presented our research initiatives.

I am super blessed for family, friends and dear mentors who are all instrumental for all the blessings we have today.

Was selected to participate in the Politics Course for Researchers organized by the Swiss National Science Foundation

This is a good knowledge boost as I continue my path in the nutrition and food systems policy world 🍋🍋🍋

Thinking of replicating this course in the Philippines 🇵🇭
