Ever wonder what your skincare products are actually doing? 👀✨

Each step in your routine has a different job:

🫧 Cleanser - removes oil, dirt, and buildup from the skin’s surface.
💧 Serum - delivers concentrated active ingredients to the upper layers of the skin.
🧴 Moisturiser - supports the skin barrier and helps reduce water loss.
☀️ Sunscreen - forms a protective layer that helps shield your skin from UV radiation.

The key isn’t always having more products. It’s understanding what each step is doing and why it belongs in your routine.

Collagen doesn’t disappear overnight. It gradually declines with age, and hormonal changes can make the process more noticeable.

From your 20s onward, collagen production slowly decreases. By the 30s and 40s, you may begin to notice fine lines and changes in skin firmness. After menopause, declining estrogen may further accelerate collagen loss, contributing to thinner, drier, and less elastic skin.

The good news? Skin aging is influenced by more than just age. Sun protection, avoiding smoking, a healthy lifestyle, and evidence-based skincare can help support healthier skin as you age.

✨ Take care of your skin at every stage.

Losing weight shouldn’t mean losing more hair than expected. 🧑‍🦲

GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic, Wegovy, and Zepbound have become widely used for weight management. Recent research from NYU Langone Health highlights a potential concern for men who are genetically predisposed to male-pattern hair loss.

Rapid weight loss, reduced calorie and protein intake, and nutritional deficiencies such as low iron can trigger temporary increased hair shedding. For those already predisposed to male-pattern baldness, these changes may make hair loss more noticeable.

Importantly, this does not mean GLP-1 medications directly cause male-pattern baldness. More research is needed to understand the possible relationship between GLP-1 receptor activity, weight loss, and genetically driven hair loss.

If you’re experiencing significant or persistent shedding while losing weight, consult a dermatologist to identify the cause and discuss appropriate treatment.

Your weight-loss journey should also include taking care of your hair and overall nutrition.

Could being “too clean” affect how your immune system develops? 🦠🌿

You may have heard of the Hygiene Hypothesis—a medical theory that explores how reduced exposure to certain microbes during early childhood may influence immune system development.

The idea is that early exposure to a variety of microorganisms may help “train” the immune system to distinguish between harmful invaders and harmless substances, such as pollen.

Researchers have also proposed the “Old Friends” hypothesis, suggesting that humans evolved alongside certain microbes that may help keep our immune responses balanced.

But this doesn’t mean poor hygiene is good for us. Good hygiene remains essential for preventing harmful infections. The theory is more about understanding the relationship between our immune system and the microorganisms we encounter throughout life.

🩺 We believe better health starts with better understanding.

How long does it take to see results from hair loss treatments? 🧑‍⚕️✨

Hair growth takes time—and knowing what to expect can help you stay consistent with your treatment.

🌱 Minoxidil — Regrowth | 3–6 months for early changes
🛑 Finasteride — Stopping shedding & regrowth | 3–4 months for shedding to stabilize
🔬 Dutasteride — Advanced DHT blocking | 3–4 months for early improvement
✨ Microneedling — Scalp stimulation | 2–3 months for early changes
💉 PRP — Follicle rejuvenation | 2–3 months for early improvement
🧴 Ketoconazole — Scalp health support | 2–4 weeks for scalp improvements
🌿 Hair Transplant — Permanent restoration | 3–4 months for new growth

The bottom line? Most hair loss treatments take months, not weeks, to show noticeable results. Results and timelines vary from person to person, so choosing the right treatment and staying consistent are key.

Not sure which option is right for you? Doc Vista is here to help.

Healthy skin starts with a healthy skin barrier. ✨

When your skin barrier is healthy, your skin feels smooth, hydrated, and comfortable. But when it’s damaged, you may notice dryness, redness, sensitivity, flaking, or that uncomfortable stinging feeling when applying skincare.

🧴 Healthy Skin Barrier:
✔️ Hydrated and supple
✔️ Smooth texture
✔️ Less sensitive
✔️ Better protection from irritants

⚠️ Damaged Skin Barrier:
❌ Dry or flaky
❌ Red and irritated
❌ Easily sensitive
❌ Stinging or burning

If your skin is constantly irritated, it may be time to focus less on adding more products and more on repairing and protecting your skin barrier.

Your skin doesn’t need more, it needs the right care. 💙
