When the air changes, pay attention to what changes in you.
Poor air quality and haze can affect people differently. A persistent cough, wheezing, shortness of breath, or chest tightness may be easy to dismiss as “just the haze” but a change in your breathing still deserves attention.
Your exposure, symptoms, medical history, and changes over time can help your physician understand what may be contributing to how you feel and what steps may be appropriate.
If air quality is poor, reduce unnecessary exposure and strenuous outdoor activity, keep indoor air as clean as practical, and avoid smoking, va**ng, and indoor smoke.
Most importantly, notice changes in how you feel. If breathing symptoms persist or worsen, speak with a CMI physician.
For your safety: Severe difficulty breathing, significant chest pain, confusion, or bluish lips require emergency medical care.
