𝑺𝑼𝑷𝑷𝑶𝑹𝑻 𝑺𝑻𝑨𝑻𝑬𝑴𝑬𝑵𝑻 𝑶𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒃𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑾𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑹𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔

The 𝑺𝑳𝑴𝑪𝑮𝑪-𝑬𝑼𝑰 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒏 expresses its strong support for the proposed bill filed by Eli San Fernando advocating for the abolition of provincial wage rates.

For many years, workers in the provinces have received lower wages compared to those in urban areas, despite facing the same rising cost of living and performing equally valuable work. This wage disparity has long created inequality among Filipino workers and remains a significant concern within the labor sector.

As a union representing the employees of St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City, we firmly believe that workers deserve fair and equal compensation regardless of their geographic location in the Philippines. Labor should be valued based on the dignity of work and the contribution of workers to society not on where they are located.

In this regard, the SLMCGC–EUI Independent Union stands in solidarity with Eli San Fernando and the broader labor movement in advocating for the passage of this important measure. We believe that abolishing provincial wage rates is a crucial step toward promoting fairness, reducing wage inequality, and improving the living conditions of Filipino workers and their families across the country.

We respectfully call on policymakers and relevant government agencies to support this measure and advance policies that protect and uphold the rights, dignity, and welfare of Filipino workers.
