LEAD WITH CARE: EQUIPPING STUDENT LEADERS FOR MENTAL HEALTH FIRST RESPONSE 💚

Mental health support begins with a caring heart, a listening ear, and the courage to reach out. 💚

The Guidance and Testing Office (GTO) of the University of Northwestern Mindanao (UNM) proudly presents the Mental Health First Aid Training on October 16, 2026, at the UNM Convention Hall, Tangub City.

This meaningful initiative aims to equip our student leaders and peer facilitators with essential knowledge and practical skills to recognize signs of emotional and psychological distress, provide compassionate initial support, and facilitate appropriate referrals when professional help is needed.

🌟 Meet Our Resource Speaker!

We are honored to welcome Ms. Generaole, District Guidance Counselor III, whose professional expertise and experience in guidance and counseling, mental health promotion, and student support services will help enrich our participants’ understanding of mental health first response.

Through her insights and guidance, our student leaders and peer facilitators will be empowered to respond with empathy, listen without judgment, recognize when someone needs help, and connect individuals to appropriate support services.

Through this initiative, we hope to nurture a community of student leaders who lead not only with confidence but also with compassion and genuine concern for the well-being of others. Because sometimes, a simple act of listening, a kind word, or a timely referral can make a meaningful difference in someone's life. 💚

Let us build a campus where asking for help is welcomed, offering support is encouraged, and no one has to face their struggles alone.

💚 LEAD WITH CARE. LISTEN WITH EMPATHY. RESPOND WITH COMPASSION.

💛 𝐘𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖 𝐖𝐄𝐃𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒 💛

As we celebrate 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡, we look back on our 𝐘𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 last September, a meaningful reminder that while Su***de Prevention Month may have ended, our commitment to mental health awareness, compassion, and hope continues every day.

We are grateful to our students, faculty, and staff who wore yellow in solidarity with the advocacy for su***de prevention and mental health awareness. Every yellow shirt represented a shared commitment to creating a community where people feel seen, heard, understood, and supported.

Behind every smile is a story. Behind every silence may be a struggle. Sometimes, a simple act of kindness, a listening ear, or a sincere “𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚?” can make a difference in someone's life.

As we continue our Mental Health Month celebration, may we carry the spirit of Yellow Wednesdays beyond the color we wear—to the words we speak, the kindness we show, and the compassion we extend to those around us.

Mental health awareness is not limited to a month, and neither is our responsibility to care. Let us continue to listen without judgment, reach out without hesitation, and remind one another that no one has to face life's challenges alone.

Let's talk. Let's listen. Let's support. Together, we can create hope.

💚Take a Break, Take Care of You 🌿

This Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s remember that taking care of our mental well-being is just as important as taking care of our physical health.

✨ Take a break when you need one.
💬 Talk to someone you trust.
🌱 Be kind to yourself.
🤝 Support those around you.
💙 And never be afraid to ask for help.

You don’t have to have everything figured out. Sometimes, taking a moment to breathe, rest, and reset is exactly what you need.
Your mental health matters. Your feelings matter. YOU matter. 💚
Let’s create a workplace where taking care of our minds is encouraged, supported, and celebrated.

💚 WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 💚

Every October 10, people around the world observe World Mental Health Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness, promoting understanding, and encouraging conversations about mental health.
Mental health is an important part of our overall well-being. Let’s take this opportunity to remind ourselves and others that it’s okay to pause, ask for help, speak openly about our feelings, and support one another.
✨ Take care of your mind. Be kind to yourself. Check in on someone you care about.
Together, let’s help create a world where mental health is valued, understood, and supported.
Your mental health matters. You matter. 💚

This Su***de Prevention Month, we are reminded that kindness can be simple, but its impact can be meaningful. Sometimes, a small treat or a thoughtful gift can brighten someone’s day and remind them that they are seen, valued, and cared for. 🌱

Through “A Little Treat, A Lot of Hope,” every Ka-UNM is invited to take what they need or share what they can. 🍪

You may take a little treat for yourself—a simple reminder to pause, breathe, and care for yourself. You may also take something to give to someone you think needs it most. It can be a spare notebook, ballpen, school supply, or any useful item you can share.

You never know what someone may be going through. A small gesture may be just the reminder they need:

“I thought of you. You matter. You are not alone.” 💛

Let’s make kindness something we can give freely and hope something we can share.

🌱 Take what you need.
🤝 Share what you can.
💛 Give a little. Spread a lot of hope.

Because sometimes, a little treat is more than just a treat—it is a little reminder that someone cares.
