🛡️ Vaccines Protect More Than Just Your Child
When children remain unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated, they increase the number of people who can become infected and allow vaccine-preventable diseases to spread more easily in the community.
This puts vulnerable individuals at greater risk especially babies too young to be fully vaccinated, pregnant women, immunocompromised patients, and those who cannot receive certain vaccines.
Some diseases and their possible complications:
🔴 MEASLES – pneumonia, severe diarrhea/dehydration, encephalitis, blindness, and death. It can also weaken the immune system and increase susceptibility to other infections.
🌸 RUBELLA – usually mild in children, but infection during pregnancy can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, or congenital rubella syndrome, including hearing, eye and heart defects and lifelong disability.
🦠 PERTUSSIS (Whooping Cough) – particularly dangerous to young infants and can cause pneumonia, apnea, brain complications and death.
🦵 POLIO – can cause permanent paralysis and, in severe cases, death.
🫁 DIPHTHERIA, HIB & PNEUMOCOCCAL DISEASE – can cause severe respiratory infection, meningitis, brain damage, disability and death.
Vaccination is not only about protecting your own child.
It is also about protecting the babies, pregnant women, elderly and immunocompromised people in our community. ❤️
