𝐃𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐀𝐘 𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐅𝐄𝐓𝐘 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐎𝐅 𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐌-𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐕𝐀𝐖𝐂

Barangay officials and law enforcers are mandated by law to take prompt and appropriate action in responding to cases of Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC):

1. Undertake education program on Republic Act No. 9262 and on why it exists, the rights and remedies of victim-survivors, and the duties of residents and all barangay officials;
2. Have a family violence prevention program, including peer counselling for men;
3. Support organizing efforts and development programs for women in the community;
4. Prioritize livelihood projects for victim-survivors;
5. Involve women in planning and implementation of all programs and projects in the barangay;
6. Have an anti-VAWC desk officer in the barangay to coordinate a one-stop shop help desk, open for 24 hours as much as possible;
7. Ensure that all barangay officials, health workers, nutrition scholars, tanod or security officers, and other barangay workers undergo gender sensitivity seminars to enable them to respond to victims of violence;
8. Develop a system to document and report cases of VAWC and assistance programs to victims; and
9. If applicable/necessary, prescribe additional guidelines and standards that are consistent with RA 9262.

Failure to report an incident may result in a fine of up to ₱10,000.00, in addition to any applicable criminal, civil, or administrative liability.

Conducted an informative awareness session at Barangay Bukay Pait, Tantangan, South Cotabato on May 29, 2026. Focusing on Republic Act No. 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004) and Republic Act No. 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act). The activity aimed to educate community members about the rights and protection of women and children, promote awareness of the laws, and encourage everyone to help create a safe, respectful, and violence-free community. Together, we strengthen our commitment to protecting every woman and child and ensuring their welfare and dignity. 💜👧👦

STOP BLAMING SOCIAL WORKERS FOR SAVING CHILDREN.

We’re not kidnappers. We’re not lawbreakers.
We are protectors—and the law says so.

Under Department Circular No. 017, the DOJ made it crystal clear:
Social Workers who take children into protective custody—legally and in good faith—CANNOT be charged with criminal, civil, or administrative cases.
That’s straight from RA 7610, folks. It’s not just our job—it’s our legal duty.

Abuse? Neglect? Exploitation?
When a child’s life or dignity is at risk, we act fast. Even without a court order. Because every second matters—and now, the law has our back.

So to our fellow social workers:
Huwag kang matakot. Hindi ka nag-iisa. May batas na kumakampi sa’yo.
