Human milk–the liquid gold every baby needs.

Mothers, especially those whose babies are admitted in the NICU, may or may not be challenged in producing their own breastmilk due to comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and the like. Breastmilk not provided by these mothers is supplemented by Human Donor Milk, which serves not only as food but also as a medicine that aids in development and reduces the risk of serious illnesses like Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), specifically in premature and low-birth-weight babies.

Human Donor Milk is screened and pasteurized by milk banks, ensuring its safety for the general consumption of babies whose mothers’ milk supply is low and insufficient. I encourage every breastfeeding mothers to donate any excess breastmilk that they may have to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center Human Milk Bank for proper screening and pasteurization prior to its disposal and consumption.

A drop of human breastmilk can make a lifetime of difference to a fragile baby whose hospital stay in the NICU is stormy. Human Donor milk is the second-best option for infants when mother’s own milk is unavailable.
