MOH-BARMM HRD/RLED Conducts Monitoring and Support Visit to RHU UPI and its Birthing Facilities

The Rural Health Unit of UPI, along with the Kinitaan, Bugabungan, and Nangi Birthing Clinics, had the honor of hosting the Monitoring and Technical Assistance Team from the Ministry of Health–BARMM Health Regulation Division (HRD) and Regulation, Licensing, and Enforcement Division (RLED).

The activity was conducted to evaluate the compliance of the birthing facilities with established health regulations and standards, while also providing technical support aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery. The visit facilitated productive discussions on key aspects of facility management, patient care and safety, service improvement initiatives, and readiness for future regulatory and licensing requirements.

During the visit, the monitoring team carried out on-site assessments of the facilities, reviewed operational and regulatory documents, and engaged with RHU personnel and Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) representatives. These activities enabled the identification of best practices, existing gaps, and opportunities for further strengthening healthcare services for the residents of UPI.

Municipal Health Officer Dr. Hidayah E. Maca-agir, RPm, conveyed her appreciation to the Ministry of Health-BARMM for its continued support and commitment to promoting high-quality healthcare across the Bangsamoro region. She noted that the insights and recommendations provided by the HRD/RLED team will play a vital role in helping RHU UPI and its birthing facilities further improve service delivery, ensure patient safety, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Barangay Chairman of Kinitaan, Hon. Mars S. Mariano, and the Barangay Chairman of Bugabungan, Hon. Romeo Roxas, for their unwavering support and presence during the monitoring visit.

Their active participation and commitment are invaluable in our efforts to improve our birthing facilities and strengthen the delivery of quality maternal health services. Through their support, we can better ensure safer pregnancies, improved maternal care, and enhanced health services for both pregnant mothers and the communities we serve.

As part of the celebration of the 71st Founding Anniversary of the Municipality of Upi, a Collaborative Medical Mission and Bloodletting Activity was successfully conducted at the Municipal Gymnasium in Barangay Nuro, bringing essential healthcare services closer to the people and promoting the value of voluntary blood donation.

This meaningful initiative was made possible through the collective efforts of healthcare institutions, government agencies, military units, and private partners united by a common goal of improving access to quality healthcare services and enhancing the well-being of the community.

The activity was conducted through the partnership of the Municipality of Upi, Rural Health Unit (RHU) Upi, Cotabato Regional Medical Center, Datu Blah T. Sinsuat District Hospital, the 57th Infantry Battalion (Mastika), the 6th Infantry Division (Kampilan), and Inlex Dental Clinic. Through their shared commitment, expertise, and resources, a comprehensive range of healthcare services was provided to residents of Upi and nearby communities.

📢 TB Active Case Finding (ACF): Free Chest X-ray Activity

The Rural Health Unit of UPI successfully conducted a TB Active Case Finding (ACF): Free Chest X-ray Activity in one of the municipality’s Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA), Barangay Ranao Pilayan.

This activity aims to strengthen TB Active Case Finding efforts in response to the increasing and alarming number of tuberculosis cases in the Municipality of UPI. By bringing diagnostic services directly to underserved communities, we hope to detect cases early, initiate timely treatment, and prevent further transmission of the disease.

In addition to the free chest X-ray services, the RHU also provided:
✅ PhilHealth YAKAP Registration
✅ Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) Screening
✅ Implanon Insertion Services

This initiative catered to the entire Ranao Cluster, including the barangays of Ranao Pilayan, Rifao, Renti, and Bantek, making it the first-ever free chest X-ray service conducted in a GIDA area of UPI. This milestone became possible through the leadership and supervision of our MHO, Dr. Hidayah E. Maca-agir, RPm, MD, together with the dedicated efforts of our TB Program, RHU UPI STAFF especially:

🌸 SAFE MOTHERHOOD PROGRAM CELEBRATION WEEK 2026: "Kalidad ng Pangangalaga sa Ina, Kalusugan ng Sanggol May Garantiya" 🌸

In celebration of Safe Motherhood Program Week, the Rural Health Unit of Upi successfully conducted a Buntis Congress in Barangay Nuro, bringing together pregnant women for a day of learning, empowerment, and support toward a healthy pregnancy and safe childbirth.

The program commenced with an invocation, followed by opening remarks from Dr. Hidayah E. Maca-agir, RPm, MD, Municipal Health Officer, who provided an overview of the Safe Motherhood Program and highlighted the importance of ensuring that every pregnancy is safe and healthy. A message of support was also delivered by Hon. Norodin Lidasan, Barangay Captain of Nuro, who shared his personal experience as a husband during his wife’s pregnancy and encouraged expectant mothers to seek regular prenatal care.

The participants actively participated in discussions on key maternal health topics:

An open forum and question-and-answer session provided an opportunity for participants to raise concerns and gain further insights regarding pregnancy, childbirth, and maternal health. The activity concluded with the distribution of Buntis Kits to all participants as support for their pregnancy journey.

This initiative reflects RHU Upi’s commitment to promoting quality maternal and infant care by empowering women with knowledge, encouraging early and regular antenatal care, and strengthening community support for maternal and newborn health.

The successful conduct of the activity was led by Midwife Joylin V. Labasan, RM, and Gloriqueen Bangcaya, RN together with their BHWs, BNAO, and BNWs whose dedication greatly contributed to its success.

We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the 30 mothers who attended and actively participated in the Buntis Congress. Your presence, eagerness to learn, and active involvement made this activity meaningful and successful.

This initiative aims to provide not only essential medical services to our Upians but also social services, including LCR consultations, and PWD assessment and registration. By addressing document-related concerns, especially for PhilHealth registration, we support the effective implementation of Universal Health Care in our municipality.

The activity was headed by our Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Hidayah E. Maca-agir, RPm, the activity highlights our commitment to delivering accessible and people-centered health services.

✨✨RHU UPI CELEBRATES THE CERVICAL CANCER AWARNESS MONTH✨✨

Sa paggunita ng Buwan ng Kamalayan sa Cervical Cancer, patuloy ang RHU UPI sa pagsusulong ng kalusugan at kapakanan ng kababaihan at kabataang babae sa pamamagitan ng pagsasagawa ng mga lecture ukol sa cervical cancer awareness, VIA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid) screening, at HPV vaccination sa iba’t ibang barangay.

Ang cervical cancer ay isa sa mga uri ng kanser na maaaring maiwasan at karaniwang dulot ng impeksyon ng Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Kadalasan ay walang sintomas sa mga unang yugto nito kaya mahalaga ang regular na screening upang maagapan at matukoy nang maaga ang anumang pagbabago sa cervix bago ito mauwi sa kanser. Ang VIA screening ay tumutulong sa maagang pagtuklas ng mga senyales ng sakit, habang ang HPV vaccination naman ay nagbibigay proteksyon laban sa virus na pangunahing sanhi ng cervical cancer.

Sa pamamagitan ng tamang kaalaman, maagang pagsusuri, at pagbabakuna, sama-sama nating pinapalakas ang laban kontra cervical cancer tungo sa mas ligtas at mas malusog na pamayanan. Sapagkat ang pag-iwas at maagap na aksyon ay nakapagliligtas ng buhay. 💙🎗️
