The Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ) community, through the Safety, Health, and Environment Department (SHED), participated in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2026 held on June 18. πŸ’š

The drill commenced through the activation of the alarm system and voice commands at exactly 9:00 a.m. across all UZ campuses.

Students, faculty members, administrative staff, and outsourced personnel promptly evacuated building premises following established emergency procedures while performing the β€œDuck, Cover, and Hold” response technique.

Following the recent 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Sarangani, Mindanao, the University recognizes the importance of participating in the NSED to enhance preparedness and minimize risks during earthquake-related emergencies.

In line with UZ’s commitment to safety and disaster preparedness, participation in the NSED forms part of the continuous assessment and enhancement of the University’s readiness and response capabilities in the event of earthquakes and other emergencies.
