At 3:00 AM today (08 July), Super Typhoon INDAY entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility. PRC advises the public to uphold the organizationโs 4PsโPredict, Plan, Prepare and Practice.
PREDICT: Stay informed through official weather and geological updates from local authorities (like PHIVOLCS) to anticipate the impacts of potential hazards.
PLAN: Coordinate with family members or your community to identify evacuation routes, nearest safe zones, and communication strategies in case of an emergency.
PREPARE: Secure essential survival supplies and prepare go-bags or emergency lifeline kits (water, non-perishable food, flashlights, medicines, and first aid supplies).
PRACTICE: Conduct regular evacuation and safety drills so that everyone knows exactly what to do and where to go when a disaster strikes.
In addition, All PRC volunteers and staff are reminded to practice 4 Rโs- report, record, respond and recognize.
REPORT: Communicate real-time updates and observations of the situation or emergency directly to local Philippine Red Cross chapters or the 24/7 Operations Center
RECORD: Document all critical informationโsuch as the number of patients, damage assessments, and resources deployedโto keep operations organized and accountable.
RESPOND: Act quicklyโevacuate immediately if necessary to a safe shelter. For trained volunteers: Immediately take action to provide humanitarian assistance, including
first aid, rescue, or relief ops
RECOGNIZE: Acknowledge and appreciate the hard work, sacrifices, and contributions of volunteers, staff, and partners involved in saving lives
Stay indoors, keep calm, and avoid low-lying areas, cliffs, foothills, or crossing flowing streams.
