Ayub Teaching hospital Peads Department Conducts Hands-On Workshop on Pediatric Arrhythmias
Strengthening Emergency Cardiac Care Skills for Children Through Practical Training
The Department of Pediatrics & Neonatology, Ayub Medical College in collaboration with the Department of Medical Education (DME), Skill Lab, and Shifa PICU, successfully organised a Hands-On Workshop on Pediatric Arrhythmias on Thursday, 23 July 2026 at the DME, Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad.
The workshop brought together Postgraduate Residents (PGRs) from the Departments of Pediatrics, Neonatology, and Cardiology, providing them with an interactive learning experience focused on the recognition and emergency management of pediatric cardiac arrhythmias.
The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance participants' practical skills in the use of defibrillators in pediatric patients, the recognition of shockable and non-shockable cardiac rhythms, and the effective emergency management of life-threatening arrhythmias. Through simulation-based training and hands-on practice, participants gained valuable experience in responding confidently to pediatric cardiac emergencies.
The scientific sessions were conducted by distinguished chairperson Prof Dr saima Gillani,faculty members, including Dr. Nazia Bibi (Consultant PICU), Dr. Humera Rafique (Consultant PICU), Dr. Mah-e-Mobeen (Senior Medical Officer, PICU), and Dr. Fareeha Gul, whose expertise and practical demonstrations greatly enriched the learning experience.
The workshop was organised under the leadership of the Chairperson, Department of Pediatrics & Neonatology, Ayub Medical College, serving as the Chief Organiser, with the dedicated support of the Co-Organisers, Dr. Sajid Shamim, Dr. Shazia, Dr. Darakhshanda, and Dr. Saqib Shoaib.
The administration of Ayub Medical College and Ayub Teaching Hospital commended the efforts of the organising team, faculty, and participants for making the workshop a success. Such academic initiatives reflect the institution's continued commitment to advancing medical education, strengthening clinical competencies, and improving the quality of pediatric emergency care for the community.
