Today, the Department of Cardiology at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS) proudly marked World Hypertension Day 2025 with a walk for awareness, education, and action.Under the leadership of Dr. Kashif Shaikh (HoD Cardiology), faculty, students, and staff came together to promote awareness about hypertension – the “silent killer” – and to share vital knowledge on prevention, early detection, and effective management.This initiative aimed to empower our community with simple but powerful lifestyle changes that can save lives. Let’s continue to raise our voices, walk together, and take action for a heart-healthy future!

World Hypertension Day
May 17th is the World Hypertension Day.
High blood pressure occurs when pressure in the blood vessels is high (140/90 mm Hg or more). It is a common disease that can be dangerous if left untreated. Often those infected do not feel any symptoms, so it is called the silent killer. Blood pressure testing is the only way to know about the infection.
The day promotes increased awareness of high blood pressure, accuracy in measuring it, and control of non-communicable diseases associated with high blood pressure.
