One of my clients mentioned to me today that he feels bad reaching for mental help because of a "small thing". I wish I could tell him how satisfied and content I feel when people reach out for help for things they consider minute. It shows they are aware, it shoes they are brave enough to ask for help, it shows that society is finally moving to a right direction no matter how slow the progress is.
I explained to him that nothing is small or big. If there is something that bothers you it means it is big enough to mention and seek help for.
Why do people want to suffer in silence?
Why do people like to deprive themselves of the help they need?
We all must learn to acknowledge our pains and suffering.
DO NOT belittle your emotions and feelings. DO NOT belittle your experiences.
DO NOT belittle your sufferings.
DO NOT silence your inner screams.
Above all DO NOT deprive yourself of the help you deserve.

Every one has their own thresholds and limits of pain and heartache. We have to stop comparing each others sufferings. It's not a race or competition that who had the worst experience. What matters is how much something affects you. Sometimes tiniest things are enough to begin a Strom and many times even mountains cannot stop the hurricane.
Be empathetic
Be compassionate
Be kind

One of my clients wrote this for me today and excitedly told me during the session: "I wrote my therapy success story in a few lines".
That girl has inspired me alot with her dedication and motivation . She was suffering from DEPRESSION when she came to me last month. In my 1st session with her all she did was to cry and tell me her story while desperately asking for help. She thought I am thinking about how difficult her life is and how badly she needs help but in reality I was just looking at her like we look at warriors and I was thinking how strong this girl really is. Now after 5 sessions, i see her laughing during the sessions and it is indeed a wonderful sight.
I am sharing, with her consent and will, what she gifted me in the today's session!!
It proves that you can fight anything if you have a will and motivation to better your life.
Seeking help is courageous and brave.

Today I terminated one of my clients!!
Right now in this current moment I feel so happy and content. This feeling can not b described in words.
Successful termination of therapy is like a new birth of the client. They walk out of that door feeling like a different person but what I always remind my clients is that they are the same. They are not someone else. They just got knowledge about their own selves, their own emotions and behaviors. They just developed an understanding that they didn't had before. They are now aware of what is happening outside and what is happening inside of them. They are not someone new, they are just a new better version of themselves who is now their own therapist.
I wanted to pen down my thoughts as I watched my client walk away from me (I hope forever) with so much happiness, satisfaction, motivation for great things in life, with zeal and enthusiasm to not only live life but conquer life.
They come crying and they leaving laughing; this is my greatest joy!! .

When you have recognized certain suicidal or self harming thoughts, the next question is how do you talk to such people. First and foremost GET THEM PROFESSIONAL HELP!!
You can consider following points while talking to a person who has lost will to live.
--Be yourself
Let the person know that you care by being yourself. Do not transform yourself immediately and become a doctor or a professional or even a life savior. Remain and continue behaving like you always do with them.
--Listen
Before you start lecturing them or try to talk them out of it, listen. No matter how negative or irrational things person might be saying, let them speak.
--Do not pass judgmental and non empathetic comments
Do not use phrases like "You rare weak", "How can you do such an act", "its a cowardly act". you cant be selfish". Rather use empathetic comments like "I know your life is really difficult" "Am sure it must be very hard", "Let us try other solutions first before considering to end your life.
