Some losses change you forever.

Losing a parent at any age is heartbreaking… but losing my Baba suddenly at just 15, as his eldest daughter, his most pampered one, his favourite girl, felt like my whole world had collapsed overnight.

A few weeks later, I had to sit for my O Levels. I still remember gathering whatever strength I had left because Baba wanted me to study, work hard and become a doctor. So I did. Not because I was okay, but because I knew I had to keep going.

Being the eldest child meant I had to grow up much sooner than I was ready for. I had to be strong for my mother, for my younger siblings, and somehow keep walking towards the dreams my Baba had seen for me.

Life went on. I achieved one milestone after another… but strangely, with every achievement, I missed him a little more. There was always that thought: Baba should have been here to see this.

Decades later, I have learned to live with the loss, but the ache of losing him has never really left. Some wounds don’t disappear; you simply learn how to carry them.

Today, standing beside his grave, I still feel like that 15-year-old daughter who would give anything for one more conversation, one more hug, one more moment with her Baba.

But there is one thing my heart is certain of…

Had he been here today, he would have been very, very proud of his daughter. 🤍

May Allah elevate the ranks of our parents and loved ones who have left this world, fill their graves with Noor, and reunite us with them in Jannah. Ameen. 🤲🏻

Facial bleach is not always harmless. ⚠️

This patient developed redness, burning, irritation and darkening of the skin after applying facial bleach, most consistent with irritant contact dermatitis / a superficial chemical burn. In practice, the two can overlap when the skin is exposed to a strong irritant.

Many facial bleaches contain chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide, which can irritate or burn the skin, especially if left on for too long, used repeatedly, or applied on sensitive skin.

✨ Instant brightness is not worth damaging your skin barrier. Avoid unnecessary facial bleaching, and if you develop burning, swelling or redness after any product, wash it off immediately and seek medical advice.
