Spinal lordosis is an excessive inward curvature of the vertebral column, most commonly affecting the lumbar region. A maggot-infested wound, known as myiasis, occurs when flies lay eggs on an open or contaminated wound and the larvae develop within damaged tissue. Mastitis is an infection and inflammation of the mammary glands, most commonly occurring in nursing (lactating) cats after giving birth. Affected glands become swollen, hot, red, painful, and may produce abnormal milk or pus. The mother cat may also develop fever, lethargy, loss of appetite, and reluctance to nurse her kittens. Early veterinary treatment is essential and may include antibiotics, pain management, warm compresses, and supportive care. SDMA (Symmetric Dimethylarginine) is a blood biomarker used to assess kidney filtration function in cats and dogs. A persistently increased SDMA may indicate reduced glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and warrants veterinary evaluation.
