Pursuit of Happiness !!

Guised as hedonism for some and nirvana for others, this enigma of happiness is the most elusive of all human pursuits. Which is precisely what makes it the ideal bait offered by religious preachers and self-help dilettantes around the world and across the ages. Some go as far as to spiritually and emotionally blackmail people to capture an audience.
In our desperation we fall for such fanatical ideologies, or half-baked science claims, to fulfill this longing. While these movements may offer short-term individual benefits they may be devastating in the long run.

Suffering with a Smile !!

Suffering is an inevitable reality that every human has to contend with. Traditionally, elders in the society used literature and other resources at their disposal, in order to pass on invaluable wisdom & religious truths to the common person so as to empower them to deal with their respective challenges. However tradition, religion, and literature have fallen out of favor and the popular media today only serves to make matters worse
Even the educated populace is bereft of how to face these challenges as most educational institutes do not have any space for such “personal” topics in their curriculum. As a consequence, experiences of suffering catch people unawares and they respond in maladaptive ways. They end up increasing misery for themselves and others. This seminar intends to introduce the audience to suffering and empower them to deal with it better.

Elixir of Life !!

The most human of all experiences. It's too much of a taboo to be addressed by mainstream religious representatives. As for the university, reductionism afflicts most courses for them to even discuss love. Parents are typically in denial that their children may experience any such thing. They're in denial of their own past, of their teenagers presently raging hormones. It's too embarrassing for them.

A typical person's first exposure to the subject is through a particular kind of friends at school. It's representation in popular media is too absurd to even be mentioned.

And when it takes its toll; depression, anxiety, dissociation, suicidality... This is the point the person may finally be noticed: diagnosed with jinn possession and advised specific recitation, or with psychiatric ailments advised a cocktail of pills, or as the "black sheep" of the family and advised not to put the family name in further disrepute.

Without discrediting any of those religious, scientific, or cultural remedies, the course aims to nip the "evil" in the bud. It aims at a candid, scientifically informed, and culturally grounded discussion of the subject, seeking to empower students to to experience its beauty.
