Numerous tiny dark dots → MENDs (Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris) with diffuse erythema

After laser resurfacing, your skin forms these tiny dark “pepper-like” spots as part of healing. In type III skin, this phase can look more pronounced due to:
Higher melanin response
Early risk of Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)

Timeline (what’s normal)
Day 1–3: redness, swelling
Day 3–5: MENDs appear (like in 👆 photo)
Day 5–7: crusts/dots start shedding
1–3 weeks: redness fades gradually

So yes, on day 4 with this appearance = expected healing phase, not a complication.

Warning signs:
Increasing pain instead of improving
Yellow crusting or pus → infection
Intense itching with spreading redness
Sudden dark patches forming rapidly

What you should do now
Keep it simple and protective:
Gentle cleanser only
Thick moisturizer (barrier repair)
Strict sun protection (this is CRUCIAL in type III)
Avoid picking/scrubbing the dots

Optional:
Antibiotic cream / steroid → continue as advised
Later: pigment control (like azelaic acid, hydroquinone) to prevent PIH
