Senator Saleem Mandviwalla Visits Upgraded Emergency Department and Donates Medical Equipment to Civil Hospital Karachi

Karachi, June 20, 2026:
Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Chief Whip of the Senate of Pakistan and Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue, visited Dr. Ruth K.M. Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi today and formally handed over surgical instruments and essential medical equipment to support patient care and strengthen healthcare services at the hospital.

During the visit, Senator Mandviwalla toured the newly upgraded Emergency Department and interacted with patients and their attendants to inquire about the facilities and quality of medical services being provided. He appreciated the significant improvements made in the hospital and expressed satisfaction over the enhanced emergency care facilities available to patients.

Senator Mandviwalla commended the efforts of the Health Department, Government of Sindh, under the leadership of Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, for its commitment to improving public healthcare infrastructure and services. He also praised the dedicated efforts of Medical Superintendent Dr. Syed Khalid Bukhari for his exemplary leadership and contributions towards the development and better management of the hospital.

Recognizing the immense patient load being catered to by Civil Hospital Karachi, Senator Mandviwalla reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the institution and announced that further medical equipment and essential items would be provided through donations in the future for the welfare of patients and improvement of hospital services.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Syed Khalid Bukhari thanked Senator Saleem Mandviwalla for his generous contribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. He stated that the donated items would significantly strengthen healthcare delivery and enhance the hospital's capacity to provide quality treatment to the thousands of patients visiting the hospital.

Strengthening Healthcare Support for Journalists

Karachi, June 6, 2026:
Dr. Syed Khalid Bukhari, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ruth K. M. Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, along with his team, visited the Karachi Press Club on the invitation of the KPC and its Health Committee.

During the visit, Dr. Bukhari announced the appointment of a dedicated focal person to facilitate Karachi Press Club members and their families at Civil Hospital Karachi.

He highlighted that Civil Hospital Karachi serves over 8,000 OPD and emergency patients daily and performs more than 200 surgeries every day. He also shared plans for the establishment of a state-of-the-art Medical Tower to further strengthen healthcare services.

Dr. Bukhari thanked KPC Secretary Muhammad Aslam Khan, Health Committee Secretary Tufail Ahmed, senior journalists Maqsood Yousufi and Naseer Ahmed, former President Saeed Sarbazi, former Vice President Arif Baloch, Health Committee members Siraj Amjadi, Shafqat Bhatti, and other KPC members for their warm hospitality and valuable interaction.

The “Emergency Department Rehabilitation & Expansion Project” at Dr. Ruth K. M. Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi was inaugurated by Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Minister for Health & Population Welfare, Government of Sindh, in the presence of Tahir Hussain Sangi, Secretary Health Sindh.

This project reflects the Government of Sindh’s commitment to strengthening emergency healthcare services and improving healthcare infrastructure across Sindh.
