This is the knee x-ray of a child aged 1year 7months. Ossification centres are visible. Primary ossification centres are present during uterine life and secondary ossification appears after birth. In this x-ray ossification centers are seen at the lower end of femur and upper end of tibia. Both distal femoral ossification and tibial plateau are usually present at birth. The patellar ossification is not seen as it appears at 3-5yrs. The ossification centre appearance varies from reference to reference so approximate is obvious. The study of bone development, ossification centres, epiphyseal growth helps in understanding the age, bony abnormalities and malformation.

this chest film anterior view shows white opacity in the lower left lung. The outline of right diaphragm is not recognisable as compared to left diaphragm which has a distinct recognisable outline. The lower lung consolidation has obliterated the left diaphragmatic outline. The commonest cause of consolidation is pneumonia where air is replaced by fluid. This film is of left lower lobe consolidation.
