Through the National Health Support Program (NHSP) Sindh, 432 motorbikes have been distributed to Sindh Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) vaccinators and outreach teams. These new vehicles significantly enhance mobile vaccination drives and Integrated Service Delivery (ISD) in underserved areas—effectively bridging access gaps, overcoming geographical barriers, and building deep public trust in routine immunization.
Demonstrating the real-world impact of this initiative, one of our dedicated frontline healthcare professionals shared his experience from the field:
"This vehicle has completely transformed my daily operational routine as a vaccinator. Instead of facing logistical challenges to reach isolated communities, I can now focus entirely on my core mission: protecting children. These motorbikes have effectively bridged the gap between our stationary health facilities and the underserved families who need us most, making routine immunization truly accessible for everyone." — Muhammad Umair Khan Lodhi, Vaccinator, EPI Sindh (UC 10 Bhittai Colony, Korangi District)
By empowering our vaccinators with wheels, NHSP Sindh is ensuring that no village is too remote, no journey is too long, and no child is left unprotected. Together, we are driving forward to a healthier, fully immunized Sindh!

The National Health Support Program (NHSP) Sindh recently convened a vital Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting Chaired by the PD NHSP Sindh Dr. Sahibjan Badar to review progress on DLI 7 / DLR 7.2
(DLI 7: PHC Facilities Reporting Reduction in Stock Outs of Select FP and Nutrition Commodities and Essential Drugs/Medicines
DLR7.2: 80% of PHC facilities in at least 15 districts have at least 80% of the essential medicines, nutrition and family planning commodities)

The Assistant Director, DG M&E Dr. Fahim Soomro presented data-driven field updates showing that districts are consistently meeting the targets. Ensuring the continuous availability of the Essential Drug List (EDL)— notified by the Honourable Minister of Health & Population Welfare department, Government of Sindh —is absolutely critical, as a steady supply of these life-saving medicines, nutrition, and family planning commodities directly bridges the historical gap between vulnerable communities and reliable care. For too long, supply chain inconsistencies forced families to face stock-outs and high out-of-pocket medical costs, but this critical gap is now actively being filled through routine district monitoring, By keeping facility shelves fully stocked, NHSP Sindh is successfully eliminating shortages, lowering financial burdens, and securing dependable, uninterrupted primary healthcare for every family across the province.

In a major step toward protecting mothers and newborns, the National Health Support Program (NHSP) Sindh has officially handed over the Referral Strategy for the Prevention of Maternal Complications to the Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation (MERF)!
This comprehensive strategy is designed for the timely response to obstetric emergencies when every second counts. Currently under NHSP, MERF manages operation in Thatta and Sujawal in 6 Rural Health Centres in Sindh. By formalizing these emergency protocols, we are systematically bridging the gap between rural primary health centers and secondary care hospitals.
This initiative isn't just about transport; it’s about structural resilience. By optimizing patient pathways, NHSP is taking a decisive step toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC)—ensuring that no matter how remote, every mother in Sindh gets the timely, life-saving medical care she deserves.

Strengthening Maternal & Neonatal Care in Sindh: From Assessment to Action!
Following the successful Training of Trainers organized by the National Health Support Program (NHSP) Sindh for RMNCH managers across 21 districts, our trained assessors have officially initiated baseline competency assessments for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) healthcare providers.
The initial round of clinical baseline assessments was successfully completed at following health facilities:
📍 RHC Fazal Muhammad Talpur , RHC Kadhan & RHC Khoski (District Badin)
📍 MCHC Benazi (District Jacobabad)
📍 RHC Darro (District Sujawal)
📍 RHC Dando (District Tando Muhammad Khan)
These assessments are critical to identifying clinical knowledge gaps. Based on the findings, NHSP Sindh—in coordination with the Department of Health, PPHI, and MERF—will roll out targeted remedial actions, including tailored on-the-job coaching, targeted on-the-job training, and structured group-based refresher courses.
By empowering our frontline healthcare heroes with enhanced clinical competencies, we are strengthening primary health systems, elevating the quality of MNCH services, and taking decisive steps toward eliminating preventable maternal and neonatal mortality across Sindh.

Empowering Trainers for Clinical Excellence in Hyderabad
A Three-Day Training of Trainers on the Competency Assessment System was successfully concluded at the PPHI Regional Office in Hyderabad, held from May 5–7, 2026. Organized by the National Health Support Program (NHSP) Sindh in collaboration with PPHI, this session empowered 22 participants (21 from PPHI and 1 from the Department of Health) to become champions of clinical quality.
The training was led by Mr. Syfoor Khan (NHSP Sindh), with expert facilitation from PPHI’s technical leads, Dr. Najma Khoso, Dr. Mahajabeen, Dr. Ramsha, and Dr. Sameena Zareen. On the final day, Mr. Moiz Zaki from ACASUS conducted a specialized session on data management
We were honored to have Mr. Maula Bux Solangi, Regional Director of PPHI, as the Chief Guest for the inauguration and the closing ceremony, where certificates were distributed to our newly certified trainers.
The Competency Assessment System is a vital tool within our healthcare framework. It ensures that frontline providers—including staff nurses, LHVs, and midwives—possess the standardized skills necessary to deliver high-quality, life-saving care. By training these leaders in Hyderabad, we are creating a ripple effect of clinical excellence that will reach health facilities across the region.
This initiative is a core component of the NHSP Sindh mission to strengthen Primary Health Care (PHC) and achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC). When our trainers are empowered, our healthcare system becomes stronger, safer, and more reliable for every mother and child.
