Successful Laparoscopic Dismembered Pyeloplasty at the Department of Urology, Lahore General Hospital

The Department of Urology, Lahore General Hospital, successfully performed a Laparoscopic Dismembered Pyeloplasty (Anderson–Hynes technique) for a patient with Pelvi-Ureteric Junction Obstruction (PUJO) secondary to an aberrant lower pole crossing vessel.

Following meticulous laparoscopic dissection, the obstructed pelvi-ureteric junction was excised, the ureter was transposed anterior to the crossing vessel, and a tension-free ureteropelvic anastomosis was completed over a Double-J stent. The procedure was accomplished successfully with minimal blood loss and the patient had an uneventful postoperative recovery.

This case reflects the Department's expertise in advanced laparoscopic reconstructive urology, providing patients with the benefits of minimally invasive surgery, including reduced postoperative pain, shorter hospital stay, faster recovery, and excellent functional outcomes.

A Remarkable Surgical Achievement at Urology Department, LGH
The Urology team at Lahore General Hospital successfully managed a challenging case of massive stone burden in a patient with a previously constructed neobladder pouch and Mitrofanoff channel.
The patient presented with recurrent urinary symptoms and was found to have extensive pouch stone formation. A poucholithotomy was performed, and a large number of stones were carefully removed from the neobladder pouch.
This complex case highlights:
The long-term complications that can occur in patients with urinary diversions
The importance of regular follow-up, adequate hydration, bladder/pouch irrigation, and surveillance in patients with neobladders and catheterizable channels
The expertise and commitment of the Urology team in managing advanced reconstructive urology complications

Radical Nephrectomy Performed at Department of Urology, Lahore General Hospital
A 60-year-old female patient from Lahore presented with a history of hematuria and radiological findings revealing an exophytic upper pole left renal mass (60 × 54 mm), with thrombus formation extending into the main renal vein and development of multiple collateral channels.
After comprehensive evaluation, including MRI confirmation, the patient underwent successful Left Radical Nephrectomy at the Department of Urology, Lahore General Hospital. Intraoperatively, the renal vein thrombus and associated vascular involvement were meticulously managed.
The patient is recovering well in the postoperative period.
