Struggling with sticky, achy, or stiff shoulders? 🤕 You don’t always need heavy weights to find relief. Often, the best way to wake up the joint and kickstart recovery is with low-impact, foundational movements!
These 4 basic exercises help build stability, restore your range of motion, and gently activate the rotator cuff.

👇 THE ROUTINE 👇
🟢 1. Ball Squeeze (Isometric Activation)How to do it: Stand next to a wall. Place a small, soft exercise ball (or a rolled-up towel) between your side/elbow and your ribs. Gently squeeze your elbow inward against the ball.
The Benefit: Builds isometric strength and activates the stabilizing muscles without aggravating the joint.
Rep count: Hold the squeeze for 5–10 seconds. Repeat 10 times.
2. Shoulder Abduction (Side Movement)How to do it: Stand tall with your arms at your sides. Slowly raise your arm out to the side away from your body, keeping your palm facing down or forward. Only go as high as comfort allows.
The Benefit: Gently challenges the lateral deltoid and upper traps to keep the shoulder moving sideways.
Rep count: 2 sets of 10–12 controlled reps.
🟢 3. Shoulder Flexion (Forward Movement)How to do it: Raise your arm straight out in front of you and up toward the ceiling. Keep your thumb pointing up (“full-can” position) to clear the joint safely. If it hurts, shorten the range.
The Benefit: Promotes overhead mobility and targets the anterior deltoid safely.
Rep count: 2 sets of 10–12 controlled reps.
🟢 4. Circumduction (The Pendulum)How to do it: Lean forward slightly, supporting your torso by resting your non-injured hand on a table or chair. Let your painful arm hang straight down toward the floor. Gently use your body’s momentum to swing the arm in slow, small circles.
The Benefit: Decompresses the joint, improves blood flow, and promotes mobility with minimal strain.
Rep count: 10 circles clockwise, 10 circles counter-clockwise
⚠️ Tip: Move slowly and control every inch of the movement. Mild discomfort can happen, but stop immediately if you feel sharp or pinching pain!
