Dr. Muhammad Umer Razaq serves as Assistant Professor of Pediatric Nephrology at Children’s Hospital Lahore, combining specialized pediatric kidney care with academic and clinical responsibilities.

📌📍کمر کے پھوڑے کا آپریشن ہوگیا، کیا بچے کے گردے محفوظ ہیں؟❓
⚠️ میننگوسیل کا آپریشن ہو گیا… لیکن کیا بچے کے مثانے اور گردوں کا بھی فالو اَپ ہوا؟

آج میرے پاس ایک 14 سالہ بچہ گردوں کی شدید خرابی (Renal Failure) کے ساتھ آیا۔ اس بچے کا صرف 3 ماہ کی عمر میں میننگوسیل (Meningocele) کا آپریشن ہوا تھا۔

بدقسمتی سے آپریشن کے بعد والدین کو یہ آگاہی نہیں دی گئی کہ میننگوسیل/اسپائنا بائیفڈا کے بچوں میں مثانے کے اعصاب بھی متاثر ہو سکتے ہیں۔ ایسا مثانہ بظاہر خاموش رہتے ہوئے آہستہ آہستہ گردوں کو نقصان پہنچا سکتا ہے، اور بعض بچے کئی سال بعد دائمی گردوں کی بیماری یا گردوں کی ناکامی کے ساتھ سامنے آتے ہیں۔

🔴 والدین کے لیے اہم پیغام

اگر آپ کے بچے کا میننگوسیل/میننگومائیلوسیل کا آپریشن ہوا ہے، تو صرف زخم کا ٹھیک ہو جانا کافی نہیں۔ بچے کے مثانے اور گردوں کی باقاعدہ نگرانی بھی ضروری ہے، چاہے بچہ بظاہر ٹھیک ہو اور پیشاب کر رہا ہو۔

ایسے بچوں میں:
• Neurogenic bladder
• پیشاب مکمل خالی نہ ہونا
• بار بار پیشاب کا انفیکشن
• Vesicoureteral reflux
• Hydronephrosis
• اور بالآخر گردوں کی مستقل خرابی
ہو سکتی ہے۔

👨‍⚕️ نیورو سرجنز، پیڈیاٹریشنز اور ایسے بچوں کی دیکھ بھال کرنے والے تمام ڈاکٹرز سے گزارش

میننگوسیل/میننگومائیلوسیل کے آپریشن کے بعد بچے کو صرف surgical follow-up تک محدود نہ رکھیں۔ Bladder اور kidney surveillance کو طویل مدتی follow-up کا لازمی حصہ بنائیں اور ضرورت کے مطابق Pediatric Urology/Pediatric Nephrology سے منسلک کریں۔

ایک بروقت referral، مناسب bladder management اور باقاعدہ follow-up کسی بچے کو مستقبل میں Dialysis اور Kidney Failure سے بچا سکتا ہے۔

🙏 میننگوسیل کا علاج صرف کمر کے آپریشن پر ختم نہیں ہوتا — بچے کے مثانے اور گردوں کو بھی بچانا ضروری ہے۔

اس پیغام کو والدین اور ڈاکٹرز تک ضرور پہنچائیں۔ شاید آپ کی ایک شیئر کسی بچے کے گردے بچا دے۔

Alhamdulilha Honored to Represent Pakistan at the Malaysian Society of Nephrology Annual Congress 2026 🇵🇰🇲🇾

It was a privilege to represent my beloved country 🇵🇰and my institute UCHS, Lahore, at the Malaysian Society of Nephrology (MSN) Annual Congress 2026, one of the largest and most prestigious nephrology conferences in our region.

I had the opportunity to present my research and interact with leading international experts, and exchange ideas that will contribute to improving pediatric kidney care in Pakistan.
