𝐀 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰-𝐮𝐩 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 🌟

I performed a Dega osteotomy on a 9-year-old girl with Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) after open reduction.
At one-year post-operation, she is pain-free, walking confidently, and her hip shows excellent acetabular coverage on imaging.

Most importantly, she has returned to school, resumed her daily activities, and is enjoying an active childhood again. Outcomes like these truly highlight the importance of timely intervention and meticulous surgical planning in paediatric orthopaedics.

Grateful to the team and the family for their trust and cooperation throughout the journey.

Moments like these truly make our work meaningful 💙

After completing treatment for a supracondylar fracture of the distal humerus, this little champion came back with a beautiful thank-you card—a simple gesture that carries immense value.

Seeing a child recover well, regain confidence, and return to normal activities is always rewarding. Grateful to the parents for their trust and cooperation throughout the treatment journey.

These small moments remind us why we chose paediatric orthopaedics in the first place—healing with care, compassion, and commitment 🙏

𝐀 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐚 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥, 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧-𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐩 🌱
This 7-year-old boy came to us with 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐲𝐬𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐩 (𝐃𝐃𝐇) — a condition where the hip joint does not develop properly. If left untreated, it can lead to limping, pain, and early arthritis.
After careful planning, we performed a comprehensive hip reconstruction, which included:
✔️ Open reduction with 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 to stabilize the joint
✔️ 𝐅𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐲 𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 to correct alignment
✔️ 𝐃𝐞𝐠𝐚 𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐲 to improve acetabular coverage
The goal was simple: a 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞, 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤, 𝐫𝐮𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧.
Alhamdulillah, the surgery went well, alignment is corrected, and the child is on the path to a better functional future.
Early diagnosis and timely surgery make a huge difference in childhood hip disorders. If you notice limping, unequal leg length, or restricted hip movement in your child, early consultation is key.

𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐢𝐩 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐲 – 𝐀 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡 🤲
I recently treated a patient with 𝐜𝐨𝐱𝐚 𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐚, a condition where the hip angle is reduced, leading to pain, limp, and difficulty in walking.
🔹 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞?
A valgus-producing femoral osteotomy was performed to correct the hip alignment and restore normal biomechanics.
🔹 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞:
✅ Good correction achieved
✅ Solid bone union
✅ Limp resolved
✅ Patient walking comfortably and pain-free
Seeing patients regain confidence in walking and daily activities is always rewarding. Alhamdulillah, the patient is happy with the result, and that is what matters most.
If you or your child has hip deformity, early evaluation and proper surgical correction can make a life-changing difference.

𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐑𝐚𝐫𝐞 “𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫-𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐦” 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 👣

Today I treated a child with Congenital Vertical Talus, a rare condition where the midfoot is dislocated, giving the foot a “rocker-bottom” shape.
After gentle stretching and casting, we performed a small surgery to realign the talo-navicular joint and fix it in place with a pin. This helps the child grow with a stable, functional, and pain-free foot 😊.

I regularly manage paediatric foot conditions like clubfoot, CVT, and other deformities — and it’s always rewarding to help children walk comfortably again 💙.

Recently treated a 13-year-old boy diagnosed with Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE) –a condition where the upper part of the thigh bone (the ball of the hip joint) slips slightly out of place during growth.
It often happens in overweight or rapidly growing children, and early treatment is 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 to prevent long-term hip problems.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭:
Performed in situ fixation on the slipped side to keep the hip stable and prevent further slip.

Did prophylactic fixation on the other hip because children with SCFE have a high chance of a slip on the opposite side.

𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥: Protect both hips, reduce pain, prevent future surgeries, and allow safe return to daily activities.

🎓 📌 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐎𝐀 𝐋𝐚𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫

I had the opportunity to present a case on the Role of Arthrogram in Closed Reduction of DDH during the fortnightly academic meeting organized by the POA Lahore Chapter at The Children’s Hospital, Lahore.

The case-based discussion highlighted how arthrography guides decision-making during closed reduction and helps achieve safer, more accurate reductions for our young patients. I also shared constructive feedback on the case performed by the department alongside with Head of the Department, Dr Abdul Latif Shahid.

Grateful to be part of such academic platforms that encourage collaborative learning and continuous improvement in paediatric orthopaedics.
