Noor Fatima is a 6-year-old girl, cochlear implanted , living in Sahiwal, hearing age 2 years who had already taken speech therapy for one year from somewhere else. After one year of therapy, she had severe behavioral issues. She was only at the imitation level, used to speak a few words with articulation errors, just producing sounds with imitation errors. She had a behavior disorder, excessive sweating, no loudness in her voice, and her voice was very shrill.( Due to therapy she is living in Lahore).
She has been coming to Bolo Speech and Language Therapy Clinic for the last 6 months. Within these 6 months, she has shown excellent results. All the speech parameters and goals that children usually achieve in one year, this child has achieved 100% in just 6 months. Now she is at the level of book reading and reads books very well.
However, the after-effects of her previous one-year therapy are still present. Her voice is still shrill, she lacks confidence, she cannot talk in front of others and cannot answer any questions independently. She communicates in my presence, but when she has to work independently, she faces difficulty. We are still working on this. During reading, her voice becomes so shrill and low that she is unable to speak properly.
