In observance of World Dengue Day 2026, Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI), Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC), and Lahore General Hospital (LGH) organized a comprehensive Dengue Awareness Walk and Awareness Seminar to reinforce the message that dengue prevention begins with collective responsibility and community action.
The activities were conducted in line with the directions of the Government of Punjab and the Dengue Expert Advisory Group (DEAG) to promote awareness, strengthen preventive measures, and encourage active participation in eliminating mosquito breeding sites.
The awareness walk was led by senior faculty members, healthcare professionals, students, and administrative staff, emphasizing the importance of environmental cleanliness, elimination of stagnant water, and adherence to dengue preventive practices.
Prof. Dr. Nudrat Sohail, Head of the Department of Gynaecology, addressed the participants and highlighted that dengue is a preventable disease when communities remain vigilant, maintain cleanliness, and actively eliminate mosquito breeding sources. She stressed that awareness, timely action, and public participation are the strongest tools against dengue transmission.
During the seminar, Prof. Dr. Faryal Hussain, Medical Superintendent of Lahore General Hospital, delivered an important public health message, urging citizens to inspect their homes and workplaces regularly, ensure proper water storage management, and adopt preventive behaviors to protect themselves and their families from dengue.
Dr. Syed Jaffar Hussain Shah, Additional Medical Superintendent (Administration), also participated in the activities and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to promoting a safe, healthy, and dengue-free environment.
