PCOS, PCOD, and Endometriosis are NOT the same thing.

They’re often confused, but they are different conditions with different symptoms and treatments.

PCOS commonly involves irregular ovulation, irregular periods and signs of higher androgen levels such as excess facial or body hair.

Endometriosis is different. It can cause severe period pain, pelvic pain, and may affect fertility. Ovarian endometriosis can also form an endometrioma, often called a “chocolate cyst.”

And a simple ovarian cyst is different again. Many simple cysts are fluid-filled and can resolve on their own.

Same body. Different conditions. Different treatment. 🤍

Severe period pain isn’t something you should always ignore.

Endometriosis may cause intense menstrual cramps, chronic pelvic pain, pain during in*******se, and sometimes difficulty conceiving.

A pelvic ultrasound is an important first step, especially to look for ovarian endometriomas. But a normal ultrasound does not completely rule out endometriosis.

If your pain is severe, persistent, or affecting your daily life, speak to a gynaecologist. 🤍
