HD expressed gratitude to Health Department for the allocation of essential facility to MMC

Appreciates RBC infrastructure, equipment, services to be offered to patients there

Hospital Director MMC Brig Retd Dr Muhammad Abrar Khan and Project Director (PD) Regional Blood Center (RBC) Shams Afridi conducted a site visit and inspected its various sections.

Associate Prof Dr Naeem-ul Haq, Manager Administration Dr Rohail Hayat, DHD Dr Kamran Israr, Health Department Focal person for RBC Dr Inayat and other relevant officers accompanied them during the visit.

They visited various sections of RBC including transfusion, blood donation areas, Procession Room, Storage Room, Serology Room, main store, Offices, Conference Hall etc during the visit.
PD RBC Shams Afridi briefed the HD about the current status, services will be provided in the center, facilities etc.

HD Brig Retd Muhammad Abrar Khan expressed his gratitude to Health Department for the allocation of this essential facility. He underlined the significance of the RBC project, saying the hospital administration recognized its importance and have dedicated space for the establishment of this vital facility.

He said that the administration is committed to providing comprehensive support for the successful setup and operation of the RBC.
PD BRC Shams Afridi said thta RBC will provide screened and safe blood for the people of the region. He said that RBC will organize blood donation camps in various parts of the region and supply screened blood to hospitals located in Mardan, Swabi, and Nowshera districts to contribute to the healthcare needs of the local population.

He said that a Thalassemia Center could also be set up on the rooftop of the BRC. He said that all the blood transfusion will be done in RBC and patient will not need admission in wards. He said that blood will be processed to extract plasma, red blood cells and platelets and will be stored in RBC.

The HD expressed appreciation for the RBC's infrastructure, equipment, services' and pledged full cooperation to ensure smooth functioning of the facility.

Psychiatry Department hosts Weekly CPC on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

The Department of Psychiatry at MTI-Bacha Khan Medical College (MTI-BKMC) hosted its weekly Clinico-Pathological Conference (CPC) today, focusing on the critical psychiatric topic of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

The session served as a specialized academic forum, bringing together post-graduate students and medical consultants to engage in an in-depth exploration of clinical psychiatric practice.

Prof Dr Amjad Ali, Prof Dr Muhammad Hussain, Associate Professors Dr Sajjad Ali Shah, Associate Prof Dr Muhammad Muslim, AP Fatima Muslim, AP Dr Hemasa Gul, AP Dr Adnan Akhtar, AP Dr Sajjad, AP Dr Fazle Rabbi, AP Dr Asad Ullah, AP Dr Nabiur Rehman, medical officers and post graduate residents attended the session.

The conference was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Aizaz Jamal, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, alongside Dr. Nasir Karim, a Postgraduate Resident in the Psychiatry Unit.

The session was meticulously structured to provide a comprehensive educational overview of PTSD, covering essential areas such as diagnostic criteria, current clinical decision-making frameworks and the latest therapeutic interventions. By focusing on the interplay between pathological understanding and patient management, the speakers aimed to bolster the clinical expertise of the attendees, ensuring that the next generation of mental health professionals is well-equipped to handle complex trauma-related cases.

Following the formal presentation, the conference transitioned into an interactive question-and-answer segment.

This portion of the event acted as a dynamic platform for intellectual exchange, allowing faculty members and students to delve deeper into the nuances of the subject matter. Participants engaged in a robust dialogue regarding the practical application of theoretical knowledge, examining real-world clinical scenarios and the challenges often encountered in treating patients suffering from PTSD.

BKMC conducts PM&DC Mock Inspection Preparatory Review for Clinical Tour Accreditation

Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC), Mardan, conducted a comprehensive PM&DC Mock Inspection preparatory review today in the College Conference Room as part of ongoing efforts to ensure readiness for the forthcoming Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) Clinical Accreditation Inspection.

The mock inspection process was supervised by the Dean/CEO Prof Dr. Jawad Ahmad, Medical Director (MD), and Director Medical Education (DME). All concerned Heads of Departments (HODs), ward in-charges, focal persons, and faculty members participated in the review session and presented their respective accreditation files, proformas, and documentary evidence for scrutiny.

During the session, participants were directed to ensure complete compliance with PM&DC standards by maintaining updated documentation, properly completed proformas, and supporting evidence related to clinical teaching activities, ward allocations, student rotations, and departmental records.

Special emphasis was placed on the organization and verification of documentation to facilitate a smooth accreditation process. Faculty members were encouraged to seek guidance from designated focal persons and accreditation support teams for any missing or incomplete documentary evidence.

The meeting also reviewed clinical rotation schedules, particularly for allied medical and surgical specialties, to ensure clarity regarding student placements and ward occupancy during two-week rotational postings. Such measures aim to strengthen transparency and improve the quality of clinical education and training.

Addressing the participants, the administration reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of medical education, clinical training, and regulatory compliance. The Dean appreciated the collective efforts of faculty members, department heads, and administrative staff in preparing for the accreditation exercise and emphasized the importance of teamwork and meticulous documentation.

The PM&DC Mock Inspection serves as a critical preparatory step to identify potential gaps, streamline processes, and ensure institutional readiness ahead of the official accreditation visit.

Academic Inspection of Postgraduate Residents at MTI BKDC conducted

The Academic inspection of postgraduate residents of the Prosthodontics Unit was successfully conducted here on Friday.

The Office of the Associate Dean, Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME), MTI BKDC Mardan carried out the inspection in accordance with directives issued by the PGMI Office, Peshawar, with a focus on evaluating and enhancing the academic performance and clinical training standards of postgraduate trainees.

The process was conducted under the supervision of the Associate Dean PGME, Prof. Dr. Sertaj Khan.

Member of the inspection team included Dean BKDC and Chairman of the committee (HOD Prosthodontics) Prof Dr. Munir Khan, Chairman, Vice Chairman and Associate Dean Postgraduate Education,Prof ​Dr. Sartaj Khan, members Prof ​Dr. Ahmed Khan, AP ​Dr. Asim, ​Dr. Huma Hayat, ​Dr. Tahira Hussain, AP ​Dr. Saifullah,
​Dr. Waqar un Nisa and ​Dr. Neelofar Rehman.

The inspection included a comprehensive review of the unit’s academic activities and trainee progress. The inspection emphasized the institution’s commitment to maintaining high standards in medical education and fostering an environment conducive to professional development for all residents.

Following the proceedings, the administration expressed appreciation for the cooperation extended by the Head of the Prosthodontics Unit, Prof. Dr. Munir Khan and the faculty staff in facilitating a smooth evaluation process.

Prof Dr Sartaj Khan said that the initiative is part of a broader, ongoing institutional effort to ensure that postgraduate training programs align with established academic criteria and contribute to the continued clinical excellence of the Medical Teaching Institution.

Directs full utilization of portable laptops in ward rounds

The Clinical Executive Board (CEB) of Medical Teaching Institution (MMC) evaluated the ongoing digital transformation initiatives in a meeting held in the hospital’s conference room.

The session was chaired by Acting Medical Director Prof. Dr. Imad Hameed.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Medical and Allied Associate Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abbas, Chairman Surgical and Allied Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hussain, Chairman Pediatrics Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim Khan, along with Heads of Departments, unit representatives and Manager Quality Assurance Hameed Zeb.

Manager IT Department Mohsin Ali provided a detailed briefing on the current status of data entry across all hospital units within the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS).
Prof. Dr. Imad Hameed said that the administration is committed to moving away from traditional, manual patient charting towards a fully paperless environment.

The Medical Director said that the institution is on a positive trajectory toward complete digitalization. He said that significant progress has already been achieved, with patient chart requirements successfully reduced from 32 pages to 11. He said that portable laptop trolleys have been distributed to every ward and directed all Heads of Departments to ensure these resources are utilized to their full capacity.

He stressed that the integration of laptop use during daily ward rounds is mandatory to ensure comprehensive and real-time data entry into the HMIS. While acknowledging the progress made, he maintained that there is always further space for operational improvement.

Furthermore, Manager Quality Assurance Hameed Zeb briefed the board on the requirements regarding an upcoming visit from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC). He outlined a series of mandatory clinical and facility standards that all department heads must finalize.

The Literary Society of Bacha Khan Dental College proudly organized the 1st Annual Qirat Competition for the students of Bacha Khan Dental College (BKDC) and Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC).

The event provided a platform for students to showcase their talent in the beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran, fostering spiritual growth and promoting Islamic values among future healthcare professionals.

Students from both institutions participated enthusiastically, demonstrating remarkable devotion, confidence, and excellence in Qirat. The competition concluded with an award distribution ceremony, where the winners were recognized for their outstanding performances.

Awards were presented to the 1st and 2nd position holders in appreciation of their exceptional recitation skills.
