With deep sorrow, to share the heartbreaking news that Dr. Majid Khattak, Resident Neurosurgery at Hayatabad Medical Complex , has passed away.

Following severe burn injuries sustained last week, he has unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
A precious life, dedicated to the service of humanity and the medical profession, has been lost far too soon.

May Allah (SWT) grant him the highest ranks in Jannah, bless his family with patience and strength during this difficult time.

A tragic day for the medical family.

Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.

The healthcare system of my province and country;

• where health gets less GDP, while social media campaigns and protocols get more attention

• where politicians turn hospital visits into vote campaigns and TikToks instead of real reform and policy making

• where consultants who could bring real change (in many cases) remain silent, enjoying perks within their capacity while the system keeps declining

• where young doctors are treated like running machines, just keeping a broken system on ventilator

• where the health minister is also the finance minister, staying in & buying luxury hotels like Serena, while talented professionals leave the country for basic necessities

• where governance and accountability are almost non existent

• where no one is focused on fixing the system, and everyone is busy blaming the other

• where toxicity flows from senior doctors to registrars, TMOs, and then house officers, instead of learning and mentorship

• where juniors are mentally exhausted and punished for minor mistakes instead of being guided

• where young minds romanticize foreign exams over local systems

• where attendants can bring weapons into hospitals, ready to harm healthcare workers on duty

• where WhatsApp groups are used more for defense and fights than research and academics

And still, the question remains:

Do we close the door to hope here?
Do we stop talking about what is wrong?
Or do we keep going despite everything?

To all my colleagues, doctors and the medical community,

We live in a province where politicians (and the current government more specifically) have repeatedly exploited the healthcare system - and unfortunately, they have often succeeded.

They have also tried to undermine and damage the dignity of a profession built on years of sacrifice, sleepless nights, and selfless service, all for publicity and social media content.

Now it is our responsibility to defend our dignity and self respect.

I ask everyone to make and share the public actions, statements, and incidents involving those who threatened doctors, manhandled healthcare workers, brought weapons into hospitals, or disrespected the white coat.

If you don’t have access to a public page, send the material to me and I will help sharing it.

But why?

The strike at the Health Secretariat tomorrow by YDA isn’t just a strike, it’s a one time test of the unity and consensus of doctors across KPK to say “YES” to standing together against every act of aggression, barbarism, hatred, and financial terrorism directed at the doctor community.

From a 1st-year MBBS student to a Professor and HOD, everyone should join to show unity and solidarity.

No amount of compensation can undo the damage done to this innocent doctor.

Even if the attacker dies, will it bring back her smile, her face, or erase her trauma?

How much more will doctors suffer?

The real question is: who is responsible for spreading this sick mentality that fuels hatred and violence against doctors? 💔🥼
