It is always a pleasure to visit Surgical Unit II and Benazir Bhutto Hospital, where I spent the last 12 years of my service.

The hospital, under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Shargeel, is excelling. Dr. Shargeel gave me a warm welcome and invited me to plant a tree, which was a real honour.

It was heartwarming to witness the remarkable growth of Surgical Unit II-my extended family-under the visionary leadership of Prof. Faryal Zafar.

She organized a bariatric surgery workshop in collaboration with the Pakistan Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (PSMBS) and the Society of Surgeons Pakistan, Rawalpindi/Islamabad Chapter. Prof. Atif Shami, founder member of PSMBS, Prof. Burhan, and I performed four bariatric procedures: three mini-gastric bypasses (MGBs) and one sleeve gastrectomy.

Surgeons from across the country attended the workshop, making it a valuable learning experience for all of us.

My sincere thanks to Prof. Faryal Zafar and the entire team of Surgical Unit II.

مجھے اپنے ضبط پہ ناز تھا سر بزم رات یہ کیا ہوا
مری آنکھ کیسے چھلک گئی مجھے رنج ہے یہ برا ہوا

مری زندگی کے چراغ کا یہ مزاج کوئی نیا نہیں
ابھی روشنی ابھی تیرگی نہ جلا ہوا نہ بجھا ہوا

مجھے جو بھی دشمن جاں ملا وہی پختہ کار جفا ملا
نہ کسی کی ضرب غلط پڑی نہ کسی کا تیر خطا ہوا

مجھے آپ کیوں نہ سمجھ سکے یہ خود اپنے دل ہی سے پوچھیے
مری داستان حیات کا تو ورق ورق ہے کھلا ہوا

جو نظر بچا کے گزر گئے مرے سامنے سے ابھی ابھی
یہ مرے ہی شہر کے لوگ تھے مرے گھر سے گھر ہے ملا ہوا

ہمیں اس کا کوئی بھی حق نہیں کہ شریک بزم خلوص ہوں
نہ ہمارے پاس نقاب ہے نہ کچھ آستیں میں چھپا ہوا

مجھے اک گلی میں پڑا ہوا کسی بد نصیب کا خط ملا
کہیں خون دل سے لکھا ہوا کہیں آنسوؤں سے مٹا ہوا

مجھے ہم سفر بھی ملا کوئی تو شکستہ حال مری طرح
کئی منزلوں کا تھکا ہوا کہیں راستوں میں لٹا ہوا

ہمیں اپنے گھر سے چلے ہوئے سر راہ عمر گزر گئی
کوئی جستجو کا صلہ ملا نہ سفر کا حق ہی ادا ہوا
