Common Blue Butterfly
The Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus) is a widespread and abundant butterfly species in Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia. It is also found in North America, having been introduced to eastern Canada.
Appearance
Males have bright blue upper wings, while females are primarily brown with varying amounts of blue. The coloration can differ depending on the region, with females in southern England being almost completely brown and those in western Ireland and Scotland being predominantly blue.

The Common Blue inhabits a variety of grassy habitats, including:
Meadows
Coastal dunes
Woodland clearings
Man-made habitats, such as parks and large gardens
