Keloids are thick, itchy clusters of scar tissue that grow beyond the edges of the wound or incision. They are often red or darker in colour than the surrounding skin. Keloids occur when the body continues to produce the tough, fibrous protein known as collagen after a wound has healed.

Keliod treatment

Keliod treatment generally includes intralesional steriods, but this treatment, in some cases, won't work.

Keliod treatment includes topical steriods and intralesion steriods, and if fails, the treatment is surgical removal of keliod followed by radiotherapy.

Keliod treatment can be done easily under local anaesthesia, but one should keep in mind the recurrence of keliods.

There is always a hereditary predistrubutiin of keliods in the individual.

It's an abnormal healing of traumatic wounds.
Areas most vulnerable are chest and.ear lobes.
